Re: Looking to scrimmage Saturday mornign for JDL teams
Good for y'all for adhering to the spirit of JDL and just playing JDL (plus tournaments, of course). That was the idea for the kids, developing in a competitive, but learning environment -- not playing everything you can like many of the others are doing. I have a feeling the use of dual rostering and CPP will be off the chain this year.
I have no dog in this hunt, but good to see at least one club doing it the way it was supposed to be. (or at least the way it was sold to the public... lol)

What is the issue with teams playing league as well as JDL. It was perfectly fine to play everything under the sun in Academy. Even for several different teams. Last year many of these "JDL" teams were playing prime time where they could use players that were rostered on other club rosters. How would that fit into the spirit per se. I personally do not care if JDL teams play in whatever they want. Doesn't affect me at all. You had brought it up so I was just curious as to what is or in this case isn't in the spirit of JDL.

Re: Looking to scrimmage Saturday mornign for JDL teams
1) JDL created to have an environment where competition is less emphasized and development more emphasized. Hence, the "no score, no records" thing.
2) 10 team "league", 9 games per season, ==> 18 games. By anyone's account, that's a full slate of league games. (Of course, plus tourneys, more friendlies, etc)
Now I want to also play a league where we do keep score and records and such with the same players and coaches?? And now double the number of games the kids play? And now makes soccer all weekend all the time???
So if the point was to offer the kids an environment where they could concentrate on development without the "burden" of winning and score and whatever, then why would we go play another league that is totally the opposite? And subject the kids to more overuse issues?
Now I'm obviously ASSUMING that the initial point of JDL was for a special, "good for the player", kind of experience. That is OBVIOUSLY an assumption the size of Alaska. lol (and of course, I know, that is untrue.)
anyhoo, it's not really an issue, per se, to me personally. Just further amusement from someone outside of that whole process. Now the whole DA vs ECNL thing.... that does involve my family and where that falls out does make me nervous....
