Ridiculous behavior.. These are 11 yr old kids not USWNT. Being a captain is part of the learning and growth aspect for our DDs and one of the reasons why we pay so much money for our DDs to gain "life experience" If the girls never have an opportunity to be a captain, they can't learn. Granted, being a Captain is not an entitlement, it should be earned each week in practice.

The idea of permanent captains for this age group is largely ridiculous (I say largely because there might be an exception or two out there).

Girls already develop a social web, and leaders naturally emerge. These are usually the best and hardest working players, and kids assume that these are the only kids that should speak. We teach them that's not the case. Some players are going to get their minutes regardless. But for the kids who split time, subpar exercises and SSG can literally cost them development and minutes in a match. Once those kids are encouraged to lead, they're going to bring everybody in line to get your sessions squared away.
