TOP TEN 08’ BOYS TEAMS

Word I am hearing is that Solar Ackerson wasnt just Ackerson's team. Sounds like they had a tryout that drew quite a few solar kids from various solar teams and practiced all week for this tournament. McKinney parent told me that Ackerkaticroerenyer team jumped on them quick. By the time McKinney team started scoring, they were already in too big of a hole. Props to them for showing up prepared. I would hate to be a team playing McKinney this next weekend. Im sure Coach McKinney is going to have those boys completely ready.

Big props to that Ackerson team for sure! That explains it, I figured something crazy like a mini Solar all star team would be the only way that would have happened! I'd be more worried that McKinney wasn't completely ready for them, being State Cup and all. Every team is practicing to get better and better(some even pick up a kid here or there) to compete with the big dogs! So does this make Ackerson the team to beat at State Cup going forward??

I doubt it. I think it was just a mix of McKinney not expecting a stronger opponent. I am told Once McKinney woke up, they started scoring and looking very dangerous. Sounds like McKinney may have won the game if they had about 10 more minutes to play

Soccerfanatic is right. Mckinney was threatening hard and solar east definately felt the pressure. Thats why solar east kept resorting to time wasting, which lead to 3 yellow cards and a red card. I think given 10 more minutes as soccerfanatic stated, mckinney would have at least tied that game. Solar east definitely caught mckinney off guard though and deserve credit. There 3 man coaching staff worked hard to prepare for mckinney

Sounds like smart playing to me, McKinney is tough I would also instruct the kids to kill time.

That is very smart play.. Especially with a team as dangerous as Mckinney.

Why all the if and or buts, Ackerson had there # that day, who cares how they did it, they still did it! McKinney is still the team to beat and like i said earlier, teams are getting better and getting more talent on their team! Not once in the very few loses that McKinney has had this year have there not been reasons/excuses! One thing is to give the analysis of the game and how it went, but its always something.. McKinney has a great team and some talented boys, but they are 10/11 years olds! They can have a bad game hear and there!

If the rain does a turn and goes away, there is gonna be some really good soccer at the Next Gen Tournament! Some good teams should be playing against each other, the parents are gonna be going crazy! LOL

With state cup semis being pushed to Sunday, I wonder if any teams are pulling out of Next Gen?

Supposedly they were gonna work with the schedule of State cup teams. Some games for State Cup are being played during the week. Rest of the games are being played on Sunday!

It's a bad situation for teams from out of town. If it even sprinkles a bit on Friday night or Saturday morning, fields will close! That basically cancels the tournament!

Well, honestly I think all it takes is a small drizzle to really make the fields unplayable with all the rain we have had. I usually don't agree with some of the weather cancellations but it did rain a lot this past weekend.

Semifinals set for State Cup. Kicks eliminated by solar Juliao. Not too surprised to be honest. Juliao vs Ackerson should be interesting, but McKinney vs suarez has that feel of a final. Should be a great game.

For whatever reason Kicks has been on a slump as of lately! That RGV FC Dallas team isnt a team to take lightly, those boys can play and they play hard, I wouldn't have thought the score would have been like that though(Kicks giving up 5)!
The Rayos score was like that cuz McKinney withdrew from the tournament for whatever reason! I'm sure you had some people scratching their head about that score. Lol!

Anybody check out the Ken Smith games out at Richland this weekend?

I watched a good amount of the games, I was disappointed that more of the top teams didn’t participate. McKinney walked away with it in pretty short order giving up 2 goals in 5 games. I would think that a bid to the Dallas Cup would have brought out more talent.

FCD suarez kickball tactics didnt work today against Solar McKinney. Was still a good game. 2 totally different styles of play. Suarez tried to clog up their defensive end and just play kick ball to their forward. They played very physical. Decent ref today though called a lot of their fouls (4 yellow cards).

McKinney possessed the ball the majority of the game. But the suarez defense was tough. Game could have been 2-0 if not for a pk save. Goalkeeper error cost them a goal however. Suarez had a great scoring opportunity in the final minutes, but solar keeper shut it down cold with a great leg save. McKinney definitely looked like the better team, but Suarez kept in the game.

On another note. Coach Suarez... what a class act. Took defeat very well by calling the solar kids curse names in Spanish and then storming off the field, leaving his kids to take a team picture without their coach. What a guy

Nope, I don’t manage, but lets just say I have eyes and ears on lots of fields across NTX.

Everyone has eyes and ears on fields all over North Texas. That’s what this forum is about. Was your statement supposed to have some type of dramatic effect? Because it didn’t work.

I'm not sure what that was, awkward AF, but being at the game to see these two heavyweights battle it out was awesome. I have never seen so many fouls called, it seemed like the last 5 minutes lasted about 15. It was free kick after free kick, corner after corner, it was as great as little kid soccer gets. Its obvious that ATP and SMG have vested interest, but what a game. Solar did possess the ball for a majority of the game, but man do the FCD kids pack a punch. I saw them trip the same kid 3 times in the matter of 2 minutes, and then I saw Solar miss 3 shots in a row, point blank, in the same time frame, it was pure action pack. I thought for sure the Solar kids would buckle like they have in the past against this team, but they were the first to the ball on every FCD long ball kick and controlled the game. FCD plays tough/dirty, but very little skill past kicking it into the attacking third and hoping for a lucky bounce. Maybe that how they play against teams that they can't just overpower. Solar, great possession, just needs help finishing, so many opportunities lost. Thanks to both teams for the entertainment.
