Sting Black ECNL 07

I've heard from multiple people that Sting Black ECNL 07 (Tatu) is dead in the water, with the kids left floating .. this week. Some TBD team will be sliding into the vacant ECNL team (heard different names, so won't speculate here), but Mariscal will be taking the "top" ECNL spot and might take a few players from Tatu's roster.

Absolutely horrible that Sting would let this happen .. at this time. Should have been done much earlier to lessen the burning of bridges with the affected families. Speaking for myself, I wouldn't consider a club if they let me know IN JUNE that the team I had been told my child had made .. simply no longer exists.

I'll bite.

Royal lost three of his best players to other clubs. Plus whoever else may have drifted off this time of year. This would have changed the make up of that team significantly.

I think the decision was made to not have two average ECNL teams and make one stronger one.

Makes sense for Royal to move over to Black since Sting Royal ECNL (aside from U14 Royal) was near the bottom in all the other age groups.

If any club needed two ECNL teams it was Solar. Killed everyone in RL this year and then fell apart bored of the competition.

Some coach with a solid team (Adames, Fever-Penn, FCD West or East) needs to be calling Sting and asking for that spot right now. Can't imagine they would let any of the Sting RL teams (Black, Royal, Austin) become the Royal ECNL team. They finished 7th, 8th and 9th out of 10 with high negative goal differentials. I know Black and Royal were mostly Lake Highlands (nearly relegated from D1) girls that got moved up by politics and chance last year from what I was told. Explains the standings.

But Medina and his ECNL magic wand. You just never know.

This seems to be true with a lot of the Solar RL teams. It's a shame as those teams had the ECNL slot pulled out from under them last year and the slot was given to Sting Royal. Solar 2nd teams were middle of the pack ECNL teams, top of the league ECRL teams, and now many are falling apart as girls seek greener ECNL pastures.

It was definitely a huge error by ECNL and shows that politics still too often drive decision making. With Celtic relegated to RL, I imagine Royal can't be too far behind if next year isn't a substantial improvement on this year.

Do they still have a team? They apparently have one game left in their schedule…And their opponent (DKSC) needs the win!

Just about to watch the wheels come off this age group for Sting. Not what is meant by failing forward!

Is it true that Solar is picking the shiniest tassels off the Sting carcass in the 07, 06, and 05 age groups?

Serves Sting and Kenny right. They didn't deserve a 2nd ECNl spot. Hopefully, this gets taken and we get back to 5 ecnl spots, 6 too many IMHO. Think FCD got a few in at least one of the age groups btw. On the bright side, some additional parents with kids that aren't ECNL caliber will get to brag their kid plays ECNL.

Word on the street is that 4 of their best starters left and went to Texans. That team just picked up a lot of talent this spring. Sting lost a lot of good talent in this shake up as they always seem to do.

I figured Sting would combine the best of Royal and Black in this age group and have one really good team next year (and one that would struggle).

Combined probably finish 3rd or 4th of the local clubs regardless. Just not a top club anymore, lack of talent starts with their coaches

Pretty clear that, as a club, Sting is well behind Solar, FC Dallas, and DKSC.

Things are cyclical and it may change in a year or two, but that's clearly how things are at this point in time.

If they had combined and made a strong team maybe but they waited too long to have a plan and they lost any talent the old black team had.  Now the New black team will just be a rebranded Royal 07 team with the bench players from the Old Black team.  So yes both teams will struggle now.  Texans should be better as they benefited from this blow up.

I was beginning to think this forum had lost its purpose, but finally, there is a little trash talking. Maybe we can revise this forum after all. Sting always is good for that.

Nobody ever said why Sting Royal got a playoff spot when DKSC played one less game and needed to play Sting Black for the win and three points to make the playoffs. Anyone know what happened? Hard to believe DKSC chose to not play and in turn miss out on playoffs. Seems like a big asterisk should be next to Royal on this one? Bueller?

My understanding on it was that there is a deadline to get the games played. Because DKSC did not have a turf backup plan the game got cancelled and there was not enough time to get the game before said deadline due to having to cancel. They were home so it is on them to secure a field and they didn't.

Missed out on playoffs because the coaches or whoever failed to pay for a turf field. Wow. I feel bad for those kids.

Maybe they lost hope on that Bones team when they lost to Vielma's RL team in State cup! DKSC is just a bunch of huge, aggressive girls throwing their bodies around. Their footwork needs to improve for them to compete outside of North Texas.

Where is the Texans trash talking? Can’t not include them.

With the pick up of the core players from Black they will be much improved. Time will tell but it should be fun to see how it all shakes out.

I hope you're right, but doubtful. Texans and black finished 8 and 9 out of 12 teams..not sure how the core of Sting black will make them much better. Will be more fun to see what happens to both sting teams ouch.
