May Tournaments for 04s

This is starting to feel like college football rankings.... But yes, it would be nice to get all of the top 04s or at least even half of them in the same tournament....

I can't even figure out what you guys are talking about. Daglish is not even a top team or super team. LW could easily move a few girls from beardsley and keegan and replace a few on Daglish and make a much stronger team. The top 7 or 8 are very good and solid players behind that but not the best in the club. From what I see in practice and games the strength of the teams is actually in the girls playing well as a group. There is no "the" player doing all over scoring. There is no kick it to this girl or that one. If and these are big ifs. If you can stop the player on solar kenn that team will fall, Same with rowdies, DT rosales. You will have to stop the Daglish team as a group. previous game DD scored at least 2, last game she scored none. Last game the goalie played mid in the second half and had some nice shots on goal and may have scored. The goals are spread around on the team.

I would probably say the same for DT South. I know the perception from Primetime is that we have one big player... but the reality is, if this is your perception of DT South you are completely off base. Take any 2-3 players away in any given game, and it won't make that big of a difference.

Our coach has done a great job developing our girls to where now we play a good possession based game. Throw in our lack of fear of contact, and it makes quite a sqaud... of course I am a bit biased, but I think the next tourny will show just that.

Too bad it doesn't look like the other top teams will be at Summer classic. I'm not for certain what tournaments we are in after that.

We certainly look forward to harder competition seeing as we are 29-3 in goals for/against in our current league.

Again parents talk about the D word, but it always comes back to wins. Losing is not a bad thing if the coach builds off of it.

That's why I didn't list DTS. Primtime was a long time ago and have no idea what the team has done since them. Glad to hear the coach has done a great job with them. Can't wait to see them play at some point.

At the end of the day the value from Academy is in the skills training and practice in general. If the coaches are doing a good job and the players are touching the ball at home, then you should see growth on the pitch.

So losing is not a bad thing, if your girls are truly improving week to week.

Of course losing too much can hurt the confidence of your players so one needs to find a good balance... but certainly I would not want to sacrifice great training for wins or more playing time.

Great analsis. Blonde forward for Kennington scored all three goals against LW's second team (Beardsley) before Solar coach put her back on defense to preserve the win. Beardsley were the better team in the second half with solid possession and scored. Calling them "scrappy' is a little condescending.
Beardsley had three to four more chances to finish but lacked the leg power to score (quite small kids). One thing is evident, Solar Kennington is COMPLETELY reliant on the blonde forward which seemingly never leaves the field. Everything is funnelled through her to the obvious developmental detriment of her teammates. When she leaves, the team will be extremely average. Any neutral observer would have told you that Beardsley would have beaten Kennington without her there.
IMO LW does a far better job of coaching and spreading responsibilty amongst ALL his players. No one player is allowed to be the star.

a goalie is only as good as her d

a defense is only as good as they play as a unit

younger ages 1 girl can win a game, just not when they get older

Great teams involve a lot, a lot more than just great girls and coach

I have to step in and defend the rest of the Solar players. They are not getting the credit they deserve. For the sake of development, at half time, Joey pulled the regular goalie to give her some time in the field. He moved almost everyone around. Some of the forwards went to the back and some of the defenders went to the front. To say that he put the blonde forward in the back to preserve the win is completely false. There are at least four or five other girls on the team that are better defenders than her. There are only nine girls on the roster, so most of the girls play the whole game.
Joey doesn't funnel everything to the blonde forward either. If he operated that way, then she would have played up front for the whole game and not just for one half. And actually the blonde forward often gets yelled at for taking shots when she should have crossed the ball to her teammates.
A majority of the team has scored goals this season, and several games have been won by the goalie and our stud defensive players. Joey isn't allowing anyone to be "the star". The blonde forward would never even score without the help of her teammates.
Solar could make the counter-argument that if Beardsley didn't have that great goalie, we could have had a couple of more goals. There are always lots of "ifs".
If you watch Joey's 03 girls team, you will see that they are good because they rely on team work and passing.
Beardsley played a good game and they probably should play in D1 next season, but don't underestimate the Solar team either. Most of the Solar girls would be starters on any top 04 team.

After we whip Dalglish any of there players are welcome....especially their blond forward, big tall brownheaded girl and there goalie!

As said, I beleive Rowdies, Kenny's team and DT South can beat Dalgish straight up...

You are talking about putting together a super team so I don't think it would be much of a game at all.
