UTD North Fields are in awful shape!

In particular, #3 & #6 (the furthest west fields) are the most dangerous. Tall tufts and patches of grass intermixed with bald spot areas creates unpredictable, random ball bounces and a surface that's going to cost one of the girls a serious ankle, or worse, knee injury. LHGCL should suspend play on these fields until condition is resolved..
South fields (near Campbell Rd.) are ok.

I second this! Our match on UTD 3 recently was definitely impacted by the condition of the turf.

I agree. #3 is in lousy shape. A beautiful pass needs luck to stay on the ground. Haven't been on #6. We get to enjoy #3 this Saturday....again.

I hear that some Dallas Cup games will be played at UTD this year. If that is the case, one would think they would try to make these fields look pristine.

Agree, particularly about UTD #3 -- very substandard. Our team has played multiple games on that field in the last month. Almost every time the ball is played, the field influences its trajectory somehow.
Routine bouncing balls to the goalie are not supposed to be so adventurous -- I saw one of these take a bad hop, and the goalie could not react fast enough to keep it out of the net. Sad -- nobody wants the outcome of a game to be determined by poor field conditions.
Not to mention girls tripping over the grass tufts...

Dallascup thisyear will be an utter failure, bad fields bad locations, playing in the crappy oversized cotton bowl, you couldnt ask for a worse situation...

I agree. We played the LH tourney, and several games this season...#2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 are all terrible. I have never seen so many inadvertant hand balls, and miskicks (because of bounces-to stave off the jokes). Someone is going to get injured.
If it doesn't happen on the pitch, the parking situation is going to drive someone to hurt people too...

I heard that between games Fields 6 & 3 will be used for overflow parking.

Pretty sure it was on Field #3 South half), but last season one of our girls was hurt when she slipped on the sprinkler shut-off box cover, which is actually out on the field! she slipped on the green plastic lid, then rolled her ankle where the edge of the box met the grass... ( which of course the two were not level with each other).. it was bad, and she was out for a few weeks.

Last weekend when played on Field 3, several parents from both teams commented that we would have preferred to play at Moss because the fields there are probably in better shape!!

Not sure when you were out there last, but they've killed most of the grass. If you want your DD to play on hard dirt that removes skin whenever someone falls, then Moss is the place for you. the holes created by the sprinkler heads are great for twisting ankles as well.

...or it hasn't rained, and the chasms have opened up... Didn't a few U-Littles go missing during the middle of games at Moss a couple of summers ago???

DDs U-17 so we haven't been there since the fall, but it was ehh then, not like I have seen it in years past.

Been a while since I've been there, but I was there last last spring for an early morning game, before the sun was up. The mosquitos mugged Dracula.

UTD should get about 14 days of rest on the north fields after this weekends games. It is possible with a lot of care they could get them back into decent playing shape before the Dallas Cup.

Since the parking bites, maybe we could park on the affected fields. Think id rather give blood at Moss Park until the fields and parking at UTD are ready.

Moss and under construction UTD are prestine playing surfaces with parking meccas compared those fields in Austin earlier this year..
But if we insist on whining...Moss definately worse... Nothing like a dd running into that parking lot, crawling under a car to get a missed shot on goal, open sores after a fall ... to draw the slower, late rising mosquitos. At least the access-egress is ... similar to UTD now.

We must not forget the great surprises at Moss... in addition to those canvenous ruts, you could consistenly count on someone asking your DD for some spare change around the "very creepy" rest rooms.
