Plano going back to 10, 10, 10 divisions
U12-U14
• Each of these age groups will have 10 teams in D1 and D2 and the remainder of the teams will be
placed in D3 or D4 if applicable
• All teams must have N+1 from the Spring Roster as of April 1, 2013 to be considered for a BYE.
• From the F12/S13 standings the top 10 teams in D1 will receive a BYE and will be F13’s D1
• If a PPL D1 top 10 team does not return or makes Classic/Lake Highlands we will accept a Classic or
Lake Highlands team in their place. With N+1
• 4 BYES will be given in D2 leaving 6 places for qualification. Team’s in 11th and 12 place from
F12/S13 D1 will be offered a BYE and 2 other BYES will be offered at the discretion of the VP
Competitive, this may include the top teams from D2.
• At the end of the fall season awards will be presented to the top 2 teams in D1 and D2
• Then the top two teams in D2 will be promoted to D1 and the bottom two teams in D1 will be
relegated to D2. All points will be removed.
• At the end of the spring season awards will be given to the top 2 teams in D1 and D2
*D3/D4 groups may not have parity of play
*N+1 is based on your roster as of April 1, 2013 and is half your roster size plus 1. For example if you have 18 players then you need 10 returning players to maintain your N+1.

Re: Plano going back to 10, 10, 10 divisions
That said, it will be better than it was regardless. If you are a marginal D1 team that plays in D2 in the fall, just finish top 2 then play D1 in the spring...seems better than the top 3-4 teams playing the #17, 18, and 19 team. We will be able to see who amongst the 8, 9, 10 are making their money against the lowest teams, and which can hang with the top 3 or 4...

Doe anyone know if Lightning is going to Arlington? Or are they going to be "placed" in Plano after this weekend's QT? Just wondering.

I just love the juxtaposition of the woman who is such an eternal ray of sunshine that I have to put on SPF 1000 sunscreen before reading her posts, dressing up as the guy who is in more desperate need of a Fiber One bar with a warm prune juice chaser than anyone in recent history... and vice-versa of course...InaB wrote:Darn it all Gophers, can't you EVER keep a secret!!!!!!

I have an issue with some of the fields being too hot this time of year. What is up with that?tornado11 wrote:for me the biggest problem in being in the Plano League is Russell Creek....it is almost ALWAYS blowing a gale out there and it's impossible to play soccer in 40 mph winds...the field conditions in the spring season are abysmal and not a lot better in the fall....

Ok, I blame it on the Channel 11 Weather guy! He keeps calling for all those high temperatures and lo and behold, there they are!thatwasweird wrote:I have an issue with some of the fields being too hot this time of year. Re: Plano going back to 10, 10, 10 divisions
Not trying to put you on the spot Dood or to question you, but where did you get the list of bye teams? I saw the one from Plano a while back, but I didn't see an updated list that excluded the 5 teams that moved into LH (4 that went through QT plus DTFW)...From what I saw, the teams in orange on that list were into D2, not D1...It does seem odd to hold a tournament to place 1 team...is there a list of rules and spots that I missed?Soccerdood wrote:AFC 00G Black

Got it straight from Plano League email.
Division 1 = 10 teams; Division 2 = 10 teams; Division 3 = 10 teams. The Placement Tournament Committee will have final say on how the number of teams in a bracket are determined. There will be Promotion/Relegation between all Divisions (Top and bottom 2 teams).
Byes = 9 teams; Lowest = 5 teams. 30 teams total.
Placement Tournament Format: 4 Brackets of 4 Teams. Team with highest point total will be Division 1. Remaining bracket winners (3) + second place team in each bracket (4) + 3 WC will be Division 2. Division 3 will be all remaining teams.

Forza and Xtreme would be a close 3rd and 4th choice.

Re: Plano going back to 10, 10, 10 divisions
Thanks for the info. Wow, that sucks to run a QT for ONE spot when you don't even get to play the winners against each other...I still like the 10-10-10 overall, but man give teams a chance.
I saw a bracket in the boys QT a couple of weeks ago where the top two teams tied and the one who advanced beat a team 13-0, second place beat them 11-0. I don't like that kind of incentive to play mercilessly. IMO, winning your games won't be enough. Winning all your games and hoping that the weak sisters of other brackets are weaker than the ones in your bracket is the only way to get in-ouch!
Again, no dog in the hunt, but if I was a long shot, why pay for the off chance that you could be the ONE team...not fun-especially when you can't control your own destiny beyond a W. Save the $400 (guessing??) and play from the bottom up if you are in D2. If you are good enough, you will be promoted at the turn. If not, the next year you will stay D2 and look at it then.
Again, still like this plan better than the 19 team D1, but dang.
BTW-I do like Keegan; they are solid. I doubt they make it bc goal differential...from the LH QT results, I am not sure they win by the margin that will be necessary...but I haven't seen a lot of these teams in a while, so I could be WAY off.

Re: Plano going back to 10, 10, 10 divisions
Agree with your thoughts. I checked and it's $355 including referee fees. If a team does not play in PPL and no bye then they are automatically placed in D3. It's a cheap tournament although only 3 games. Might as well play in the tournament for the experience and team evaluation.
10-10-10 is great but having only 1 spot to earn into D1 is a little harsh. Too much left to chance with only 1 opening and no head to head play from the four #1 seeds. A tournament with playoffs and a champion would be more realistic and more exciting for the teams.
