Texas Cup Predictions?

This board is scary quiet. I guess as they age up, we tend to quiet down.


Bracket 1-
1st seed - Sting G
2nd seed - DT South

Bracket 2-
1st seed - SRSA
2nd seed - TSCH Amos


In this scenario, SRSA and DT South would play each other in back to back games.

SRSA wins?

Looks like SRSA exacted revenge for the tie last weekend. Without their 02 team playing, did they borrow players to ensure the result was different? Or did Flanny have guest players last weekend that made that big of a difference? If I had to guess, I would go with the former and not the latter.

LOL...of course Flanagan had guest players last weekend. Sting Sanchez did as well.

In this weekend's Texas Cup, club player pass is allowed which should really trick up these rosters!
No limit on CPP players. Smdh!

I think in a tournament it's called guest player.

I know everyone's on edge because of the whole guest player thing- but how is that application in this tourney? Sting has three teams in gold bracket, so they shouldn't be sharing? SRSA I assume would prefer not to have to player pass? Am I missing something?

Also, for those whining that Flanagan had guest players-- isn't it still impressive that they tied SRSA (with or without them)?

I dunno. Seems like lots of frustration around the players pass rule for sure.

I haven't been keeping current- so forgive me if I just don't have the whole story. ???

It's a tournament is my point! it an opportunity to allow player movement without criticism and complaining. Let it go!

And yes SRSA had 3 guests players...from their D3 Solar team to fill in for 5 regulars who are out of town. IMO, that's the spirit of the CPP rule. Great experience for those kids.

According to the schedule they have srsa v Sting G. Why would they do 1 seed v 1 seed and 2 seed v 2 seed

I think they attempt to avoid rematches. Solar just played DTS

Yup. Section 7, rule B of tourney rules explicitly says if two teams faced each other in bracket play, they will change the semi finals matchup. Interesting.

I see. Sting G complained? Home cooking? Who in the world plays semis against their own bracket? I guess "tournaments discretion" means "home cooking"...

No worries. We came to play the best. I think everyone knows what just happened.

B1 plays A2

You can't change it during the event!
Hats off to our friends from OK for being so understanding but you don't see this kind if none sense in other NTX tournaments

Never mind. You already explained that. Two teams can't play back to back games. Got it.

Yes. They should. But there is a rule that says teams that meet in pool play can be swapped to ensure fresh matchups in the semi finals. Which they correctly did and changed so sting plays SRSA and Amos plays DTS (since all four teams 3-0, there really isn't much difference)... Anyway- at some point in the past hour Sting G obviously complained to avoid SRSA. So they swapped and now 1 playing 2 in each bracket. That is probably a tourney first in the history of youth soccer.


Anyway. Everyone can judge for themselves. Awfully convenient for sting G to sidestep SRSA for DTS. Shameful in my opinion.

Technically looking at the schedule neither dts or amos played anyone in their bracket during bracket play.  I didn't look at any of the other schedules so can't speak for them. With that being the case can't really see what the big deal is with the swapping. To have the #1 seeds play each other in first round seems to be the more egregious case than swapping other teams.

And since dts just played srsa it seems better to swap the #2 seeds.

Um. To counter that, Sting G and SRSA didn't play anyone either? Sting G got to play three south texas teams? I say Sting H was a better team than those 3?

What's bad is the tourney made a decision based on how they would deal with these situations and had sting G playing SRSA. The issue is home team in tourney somehow got the game changed after the fact.

It's all good though. I love that we get to play SRSA this weekend. It's great for our girls.

If "it's all good", then stop posting and complaining about it.... you are the one who keeps bringing it up... in reality, you would have to probably play SRSA now or in the finals, so who cares.... You missed playing the top two teams in Bracket A to begin with, so not really a big deal. Sting G obviously had this one slanted in their favor from the beginning, there is nobody that can argue that!

But I agree, it would be more wrong for #1 to play #1 in the semi final. That's the whole reason you want to win your bracket. So you can play the #2 team right?

But.. Interesting they changed it a fourth time. The only thing clear at this point is the tourney doesn't really know how to interpret the seeding rules.
