LHGCL FORFEIT RULE

Here's what LHGCL has to say about forfeits.

"Any team that forfeits any games during a season may, at the option of the team’s Age Division Commissioner and/or the LHGCL Executive Board, be immediately dropped from the League"

That's verbatim, copied and pasted from the rules.

As soon as school gets out, lots of people are going on vacation. If you can't field a team, you might have a BIG problem.

Lake highlands should have been proactive at the beginning of the season and started rescheduling games instead of waiting thinking they would get them in. I know this weather is not the norm and most years it would have worked itself out by now but let's hope they learned from this.

Yep, get those games in as soon as you can.

I don't know how they will be able to enforce the forfeit rule. Seems to me they may have to make due with games already played, even though it would be unfair to some teams.

This is what Chamber Classic League has posted


"Missing games are either TBD or not being rescheduled
(D3 only for now)

We do realize that there are more games that may need to be added to the schedule depending on certain results. We will follow these games closely and adjust as we deem necessary. Thank you for your cooperation during this rain filled season."

Apparently they are only playing games that decide pro/rel.

Wouldn't know for sure as they don't communicate much with managers.

There should be learnings from this year's "worst case" scenario.

For one thing, they should start the season sooner. Instead of last weekend in February, start playing the weekend after Michael Brown. I know February has its weather issues, but teams could get at least 2-3 more games in before end of February.

For the teams with older kids, this will be problematic with the High School season. It's a challenge, for sure. But they should communicate with managers more and come up with flex schedules if need be. Shorter notice for games.

It's easy to second guess and they've had a difficult job in this historic spring.

We faced this a few years back for a game re-scheduled in June and there was no repercussion due to the fact that they understood June was the month when most players changing teams began their search.

However, this year appears to be an unforeseen and unanticipated circumstance since there are so many lost games. It will affect almost all age groups other than the older groups that have a heavy fall schedule due to high school games.

I understand the issues they have faced with the constant rain, but could the communication be any worse?  

Games posted, then pulled days later with no notice.  

Won't respond to team manager's emails.

No communication on how they plan to finish out the season (or other options they are looking at).

We all joke about playing into June, but based on the forecast for rain, it is unlikely they will get any more games played before the end of the first week in June - which could mean the inability to get every game in until mid-late June.

A LITTLE communication would be nice.

I know of specific games that were posted - then pulled - without any communication

I know game times that changed - without the manager being notified

I know a manager who has contacted their group commissioner about games that were posted, and then pulled - and did not receive a response

You know all this because you're sleeping with the coach aren't you.,,

We had a game scheduled this weekend - time and location changed last night.

There was no communication (even general) to the manager that the time and locations might be changing on scheduled games.
