Re: Mid-Season Release
First of all, in order to get a "big club" to cooperate, you have to fulfill all of your financial responsibilities that are specified in your contract. Assuming that you have met or will fulfill all of your financial responsibilities, it is "possible" that a coach/club will offer a mid-season release IF the separation is amicable and both sides agree that the separation is best for both the player and the team/club. Unfortunately, most mid-season separations are not amicable (someone is pissed off), and they are usually not granted. However, you could request a release from NTSSA by filing a formal request with a just cause.

Re: Mid-Season Release
If the coach is "adult enough" and truly about the kids and soccer, he really shouldn't have a problem releasing to competitive especially if the coach did not play the player. If they do you can always have a review with NTSSA about it.

2 kinds of releases:
1) Competitive Release: this will let you tranfer to another select team and you can play in any league or tourneys. It is very unlikely a "big" club will grant this. Your current coach will need to sign the release.
2) Recreational Release: this will release you from your select team (still need to pay all dues). It will list your player as a "rec" player so you can't play in any league games, but you can guest play at tournaments with other select team. You can get a rec release directly from N. Texas Soccer without the approval of your current coach or club.
The rec release gives you lots of opportunity to "shop around" and play with many different clubs to see where your player will fit in best for next year.
