I heard this game came down to PK's for DT to pull it off. Is this true? This is Sting Cuevas correct?

If Mike Leach, aka the Pirate , was coaching the Polaris 04G's...he'd keep scoring until the bitter end, just like the current Polaris coach does.
There's a valuable lesson in there for some 9 year old to figure out.

Correct, penalty kicks on both ends. DT completely dominated most of the first half and the entire 2nd half on Sting's end with shot after shot on goal, but just couldn't find the back of the net. Sting's GK played great.
not sure which Sting team, which ever one is playing SDL Platinum.

Honestly don't know where most came from. Mine came from another club.Istanbul2005 wrote:I know a great guy at Mutiny who coaches there. Not assuming or putting down Polaris at all, just putting it into perspective a little. Everyone has their view on it.
Where did the Polaris players come from prior to forming 2-3 months ago?

I saw the 2nd half of this game and it was completely dominated by DT. Great passing and possession. DT could not find the back of the net with the sea of blue in the box.

2 quick points I would like to make on the Polaris v. Andro score...go99 wrote:looks like polaris should be playing at a higher level.
1. This is where the "rankings" kind of come in...sure Polaris had an easy time with Andro...but would other teams as well? Is Andro in over their head, or is Polaris that good? More matches against other opponents will prove that out.
2. I don't blame Polaris for scoring. A coach in that situation will (and should) begin working on skills with bench players, defenders in scoring positions, passing/possession, etc. What I would like to see in these situations is a quick conversation between the coaches - essentially agreeing that the game is over...what does each team want to work on in game situations...how can the other coach help? Does the losing team need to work on spreading the field? Then perhaps the winning coach removes a midfielder...something like that...make it less about hurt feelings, and more about helping both teams develop in their weaknesses. The only ones keeping score are the parents.

Instanbul - Does this great guy at Mutiny who coaches there do that even if his own team does not stand a chance? I would love to attend some of his practice sessions What age group?

It looked to me that Andromeda are a really new team and are over their heads right now. Other teams have had similar results.

Didn't they register for D3? I think they mixed D3 in with D2 so that may be why they are playing against better teams. But I wonder if they are one of those new teams that came out of rec and had a mixed group of ages (04s and 05s) and didn't want to release the older kids and play down in the 05s so opted to play up with their mixed age group and then got dumped into D2 since they didn't have enough D3 teams. That happened to our club when we brought our team to SDL, only we dropped the three 03 girls so we could play our predominantly 04 Girls group at the right level and entered at D3 last Spring (2012). Course, there were plenty of D3 teams a year ago as opposed to this season.
