Hi there! I am hoping that this forum will help me navigate the waters of the soccer programs in the Allen Area. My daughter is currently on a Select Soccer team in Seattle, called Crossfire. She is on the U-12 team (born May of 2002) and plays left mid and left forward. We are going to be moving to Texas on August 22nd and I am hoping that we can still find a team for her to get on. Any help in navigating the waters would be great! Or if there are coaches looking for a player, please let me know. We are very anxious to make this transition as easy as possible for the kids...and getting on a soccer team for her would be great. Thanks!

Don't be a roster filler! 14, 15 and 16th on a roster for someone that is used to playing will be a tough year of no game play and she will be in jeopardy at the end of the season of being cut. Make sure she is in the top group of girls on the team. If she isn't, then move on. Be realistic about her abilities. People come from out of state where their kid played at the higher levels and they try to do that here... it isn't the same. Take her to one of the top teams and get the coaches assessment. And you assess where her skill level as compared to the rest of the team. You will know very quickly if she can keep up. Most top teams are filled at this point.

Bottom line.. make sure she will be on a team where she will actually play and make a difference.

Most of the top teams are not full! Spots are left available for that player from out of town that can impact a roster.

I agree that you shouldn't have her join a team simply because it is a top team.  Take some time to see where she fits in and you can get a good idea of her level compared to the other girls.  Try several teams.  No rush!  Plano Labor Day tourney is coming up...let her guest play before you sign.  You want her on a team she can contribute but isn't the best.  You don't want her on a team she is number 12 - 16 either.  Take into account she may need a little time to get use to the heat and such.  Did she play 11v11 or 8v8?  That will make a difference as well.  I'll say again...take your time and look at several options/levels...and look beyond the sales pitch from coaches.  Watch how they relate to the girls and ask parents on the team..you may not get a totally honest answer from them but pay attention to everything.  Number one...find where your daughter likes the girls & coach and seems happy & comfortable.  It will be a long rest of the year otherwise.

Good luck and welcome to the crazy world of NTX soccer Wink

Hopefully your DD has found a team, since this was put out back in July.  If not, here is some contact info on the Clubs in NTX
