Who's trying for DIII?

Just curious which teams are going to be trying for those final DIII spots this year? To me that's more interesting than trying to figure out how the rich got richer in DI or DII teams imploding and being reformed.

4 spots open in DIII right now. Can it be confirmed that all the teams listed below will be back? I would guess that Sting Sanchez, Mustangs Bussey and Sparta FC would be the most likely candidates to take 3 of the 4 spots based on recent activity. Some of the teams that might be on the short list have been quiet this summer.

FCD South doesn't exists anymore as coach defected to LP. Unless he kept 75% (I don't believe he did) so FC Dallas Blue (not south) will get the bye.

Are the Warriors still there? Haven't seen much from them since May.

I ran into one of the Warrior parents the other day, and he said they've upgraded the talent level significantly. Hopefully they do well this season

Sounds good, but we know there is Always an upset or a surprise team, so therefore I'm going to say 1 or 2 of these 4 won't make it.

Sparta and Sting Sanchez have both separated themselves from the rest of the contenders for 2 of the 4 available spots in D III. IMO, there are 5-10 teams out there that could get the other 2 spots depending on how they are seeded and how the brackets end up. If you look at the teams that have to re-qualify along with the top 5 or so in PPL and in APL, most have had stretches where they played well enough to get in. Unfortunately, they also have had some head scratchers. I also think when you have potentially 6 games over 2 weekends in 100 degree weather, anything can happen!

Seeding will help/hurt some teams.

but nerves and 100 degree temps will be a factor
As well as seeding. If any of these four have to play each other in week 1 then that would be unfortunate.

I say watch out for Texas Lightning Toups. Quality wins and a draw here recently.

Don't disagree with that choice at all but I could only choose 4 and that meant leaving out this solid team. Will be there or there abouts

I agree about those 4 but that 1 is my sleeper team.

This question has probably been asked a million times:
how do they seed the U12's?     final season results?  recent tournament play?  
King tut/puma?

Texas Lightning, Sting Sanchez, Mustangs, Sparta and Sting Skaife hopefully all won't be in the same bracket.

Last year, the Lake Highlands teams trying to requalify, got the 1-4 seeds.  Then the top 2 finishers in Plano D1 got seeds 5-6.  I think the top 2 finishers in Arlington got the next 2 seeds and then the next couple of plano teams got placed after them.  It really seemed to be mostly dependent on where the team finished league play the previous season.  The two top Plano teams did have to play each other the first weekend.  Hope that helps.

I should also add that was the seeding for the first weekend.  For the second weekend, 5 bracket winners, plus 3 wild cards were put into 2 brackets.  The top two teams in each bracket qualified.

If I remember correctly, the past couple years for this age group had 20 teams (5 brackets) qualifying. Not sure if that is a cutoff # for LHGCL tourney

Rumor is that Sting Scaife received a bye into DIII due to Solar Red moving up to play 02. Does anyone know who from DIII got promoted? Mutiny or Solar Royal? How will they handle qualifying for DIII? Are there now 5 spots open?

Interesting scenario. My guess is that 5 spots would open up as that would benefit the # of participants in the qualifying tournament. Sure someone from Skaife could easily confirm if they registered at deadline yesterday.

But could Solar use that bye to propel Solar Royal into DII? Could Solar Royal use that bye to jump all the way into DI taking Solar Red's place?

Wouldn't be D2 and I doubt LH will allow Solar to keep their bye. If true that they do move up LH's will not allow Solar to keep a D1 bye and give it to another Solar team

Why wouldn't one of the relegated DI teams be promoted to DII opening a DIII spot?

Can someone (smarter than me preferably) give their best guess as to what teams will be in LH 1 & 2, and what teams will get a bye in to LH 3?

I think that will be the case no matter who gets promoted. Just a guess but makes sense. I think Solar gets to keep their bye's, right? If they do get to keep them, then is there another Solar 03 team that could take Solar Royal's place in DIII. If they don't then there would be 5 DIII spots up grabs during qualifying.

Then again, everyone could have just bumped up a spot.

I am with you, someone that knows more than me needs to chime in here. Very confusing.

So...

... LP Keegan, a team that looked extinct, would get the 10th spot in D1?  Or maybe LP gives it to LP Rush if they feel that team will compete better in D1?

... FC Dallas South Blue, a team that I think is extinct, would have stayed in D2?  So FC Dallas can put FC Dallas Blue in that spot?

... Two teams go up from D3 to D2: Sting Flannigan and Triumph, but only 1 comes down from D2 to D3: Warriors.  That frees up one more bye and Sting Skaife gets it?

Solar Red '03 might be about to get a few thank you cards.
