Colleyville Evolution
Mansfield Revolution
Blitz FC
All 4 teams are fun to say. Maybe one of those doesn't make, and Sting JG gets in the backdoor.

Doesn't it say more about the lack of D1 and D2 teams in U12 age group participating in King Tut? Your bud, Trev

Pretty arrogant PDX! Would you have the contenders play in Platinum and get the crap kicked out of them by SB, DTS & Sting Glotz? All of which would be at the very top of LH. They are trying to get in to D3 not conquer D1. Be careful, might not be able to get that head through the door.

Re: JDL Teams in LHGCL Qualifying Tournament
Starting with the birth year change last year. That brilliant idea destroyed a lot of teams and undoubtedly caused a good number of players to leave the game (not every parent is plugged in and knows how to go about finding a new team).
This year, JDL seemed to cause more uncertainty. From what I have seen uncertainty about the future destroys teams. Even good teams with good coaches and good relationships.
I don't know PDX, but I would say there isn't enough information out there yet to judge the quality of the entire LH 06 field. Check back in two summers. I here girls grow a lot between 12-14.

What do you mean AP caused girls to leave the game. That seems extreme to me.derCleaner wrote:Seems like PDX is being a little hard on the 06's. They have had a lot of disruption and uncertainty of late.

I know a few too and we didn't have that big a circle in ntx soccer.
I think it was a bad business move at the very least. Building long-term relationships is one of the most valuable things the girls can get out of their time club soccer.

My medication has me unable to process what you are saying. These DDs are incapable of making new friends or not being the oldest kid on the field ruined the fun?

My son is on an 08 (formerly 09) team. we had 22 players split between 2 09' teams both of which were very competitive. when the age change happened ALL 22 of them became 08's. there are 4 left playing competitive soccer. we still have 2 very competitive (now) 08' teams but only 4 of those playing are going into 3rd grade this year. only 1 of those 4 is on the more competitive of the two teams. over 1/2 of the (former) 09's left after the first age pure season. I think most of the competitive athletes born between Aug-Dec have left the sport to find another where they don't play kids that are nearly a year older than them. by comparison, all the girls I know who stayed on the 07 side of the 07/06 age change are still playing. its why there were only 40 teams trying out for LHGCL last year and only 38 this year when, historically, there were 55-60.
Its amazing all those spring kids were fine for years, now make the Aug-Dec the young ones and they quit? Cry me a river. Oh no, this sport is tough now...

Agreed. If that's the situation, then I would call it a parenting fail.

I was having trouble understanding this, but I'm coming around.
Most teams had more Aug-Dec players than Jan-July, despite it being 5 months compared to 7. A lot of younger players quit before they even got started. I guess I shouldn't be surprised by this Aug-Dec purge. There will always be more older birthdays. It's a law.
Sorry for hijacking an interesting D3 qualification thread.

Who cares if you approve of it or not???? The fact is that it happened when it normally would not have in years past. Dont believe anyone is crying about anything just discussing the ramifications of age pure on these specific years. No need to spin this into some kind of player bashing rabbit hole because of the decisions they made. Some kids it had zero effect on, and some it had a ton, that's the way the world works. the u11-u13 years are the years that most kids quit if they are going to anyway, nothing new.

For the record, my DD has no issues with it. But, some of her friends did.
