07 ECNL

I'm not entirely up to date on all the NTX player movement (other than hearing Solar and Sting Royal are apparently up and FCD and Texans are down).  In South Texas Sting Austin will be much better with a slew of new starters from Lonestar, and Albion and Challenge will be better having each picked up a handful of Dash girls.

Anybody want to improve on my projected finish for next year?

Who would you move up or down and why?

I think the top two and bottom two are likely. No idea how to rank the middle 8 teams at this point.

Sting seems to be the most likely candidate to challenge for a title out of that middle group. Depending on how players get allocated, seems they are either going to have one really good team that could challenge for a title, or two solid middle of the pack teams. I think it's too early to tell, but I suppose you're thinking it's the former?

Did I miss something? Did FCD lose some players or what happened? What wouldnt they by number two?

Per the other thread, they lost something like half of last year's DA team to Sting and Solar.

Did Sting Royal pick up new players other than the 5 that left FCD? The 7-10 new players better be very good to finish top 3. Heard FCD already picked up a handful of DA/ECNL players to fill the roster. Not sure how you have TSC and Albion above them.

I admittedly don't know so was just taking a stab in the dark for the list based on hearsay.  Don't put too much stock in it.  At all. It's just to get some silly discussion going.

Where did the new pickups come from?

The dust has mostly settled in Austin. Sting Austin picked up more than half the old Lonestar DA team and should be much improved (though likely not quite as good as last year's LS team as a few key players either stayed with LS or found another club).

I understand both Challenge and Albion each picked off a handful of players apiece from the old Dash DA team.

How are things shaking out in Dallas?

Mums the word at each club in regards to rosters.
Open practices are coming to a close.
Roster spots maybe open to exceptional talents.
Not much shifting but a little movement.
Tough situation for some of the late U18/19 players.
Sting has good opportunities with having two teams for those in need.
Check back in a few weeks.

Won't really know until July for certain.

DKSC is holding steady, looking good, and in the mix to repeat.

Solar is the solid favorite (though girls playing up could weaken things and change that).

FCD lost half their starters. Will reload and recover eventually, but most expect an initial drop-off.

Texans lost almost all of their starters and will basically be a brand new team that is likely to initially struggle.

Sting Black holding steady and staying separate from Royal (for now).

Sting Royal said to be putting together a talented roster. Could be most likely team to push Solar, DKSC, and TSC for a top 3 spot.

... But who knows what is true and what isn't, and anything can change here over the next few weeks.

Word is that Sting Royal's roster consists of half of last year's Dallas Texans DA team plus a handful of FCD who left. So, if you are in the camp that last year's Texans team was top notch, then yes, they will be a talented roster and compete for top 3.

Top notch? Depends on your definition. Texans didn't set the world on fire in DA, but DA was pretty loaded.  Texans would have been very, very likely to have finished top 3 if they were in ECNL last year.

So add in a half dozen of FCD's top players, an upgrade in coaching, and yeah, I think Royal will be a contender.

But again, who knows.  Just speculation.

I don’t think Solar has girls playing up as for now. Plenty of players with talent in all age groups so no need to fill in any slots with younger talent.

I am sure many of you picked solar to be at the top of DA this past season..well that didn't happen..even with a full squad most of the time. I believe this coming years squad is mostly the same with a few changes. My point...I know it's all fun and games here to speculate etc but time will tell as it always does..just as it did this past season. Lots of local games/competition to look forward to! They can't come soon enough.

Haha. TSC top 3. Did you get this info from the same source that told you Celtic would get a bunch of Energy girls?

So many questions...

Are Sting Black/Royal teams combining with it resulting in an A team and a B team, or are the teams completely separate?

It is obvious why Lonestar fell apart (the demise of DA and the option of a nearby ECNL club).  Why did FC Dallas fall apart?  They were probably the best team we played last year.  Why did Texans fall apart? They were pretty good, too.

Knuckleball...why do you think there was a rush across town in Austin and Houston for many top ex-DA players to join ECNL, but that did not happen in OKC?  Is Celtic that bad? Did they just drop the ball (seems they should have just pulled over entire coach and team)? Energy had a good 07 team, and it seems the competition that is remaining in GA is going to be quite diluted in comparison to last year.

FC Dallas didn't "fall apart." A coach left and several girls followed. Still a lot of very good players there (more than half the team that went undefeated in the DA remains) . And they are FCD, so they'll recruit and reload.

Texans are just unsurprisingly Texans-ing things up. The girls side of the club is in need of an overhaul.

I assume the dust has settled in Big D and teams are put together. Sounded like there was a lot of movement being predicted as well as a brand new Sting team formed. That go as expected? Any predictions for Champions League favorites?

Wait until after the Friendlies...but who knows with the possible scaling back to slow the spread or whatever.
