ECNL 04 Girls Week 9
ECNL 04 Girls Week 9
CSP Power Rankings:
#1 - Solar - off this weekend but the tie by FCD to Sting Black and Sting B losing this weekend to SA Changes My thoughts on strength Of schedule And results in my book and moves Solar up a tick. They have no easy weekend upcoming and if they trip up and tie or lose to feet Or Sting B that would throw things into disarray.
#2 FC Dallas - FC Dallas without a doubt has had the tougher schedule thus far and although I would love to reward them for that, the tie to Sting Black is a big black eye in my book after this weekend. Conspiracy theory... why did FCD not play last weekend? Anyway, FC Dallas is as advertised a talented team but until they play and beat Solar they are simply 2nd best in the Texas conference
#3 Feet - They continue to win the games they should and are impressive with their starting lineup. They have some New found impressive scoring ability. The question is can they score at this clip vs Solar who to this point hasn’t given up a goal.
#4 Sting Austin - Big win for Sting Austin moves them up to the #4 spot and establishes them as the best Sting team in this age group.
#5 Sting Black/Albion - I have them tied for 5th spot. After this next weekend I feel like we will have a clear #5 but ultimately it gets pretty muddy after the top 3...
My game predictions coming later this week.
Enjoy the rain and pray it dries in time for an exciting weekend!

Re: ECNL 04 Girls Week 9
Saturday October 31st
1. Solar – A great matchup of the top two scoring teams. First true test for Solar. DKSC is probably the better possession team. Solar seems to be more athletic with a similar possession style but they tend to play direct more often. Although DKSC may have better chemistry due to playing together for a long time, I think overall talent and athleticism will prevail for Solar in a 4-1 win.
2. FCD- Albion has disappointed this year. I don’t give them any chance against FCD. FCD wins 5-0
3. DKSC- A loss will probably solidify it’s a 2 horse race with DKSC being a tier below.
4. Sting Austin – The game with Tulsa should be competitive but Sting Austin seems to be playing better as they gel. Although Tulsa took the first game 3-1. I think SA will avenge their loss and take this one 2-1
5. Sting Dallas Black- I expect this to be a tough game between two teams that struggle to score. I can easily see a 0-0 tie, but I will give SB the benefit of the doubt and say they win 1-0.
**Challenge vs Sting Royal. Challenge wins 3-1
**Classic Elite vs OK Celtic. Although they tied CE in their last meeting. I expect CE to win this game 3-0
Sunday November 1st
1. Solar – Sting Black can’t score easily so they will play defensive. The game may be close for bit but I expect Solar to win 4-0.
2. FCD- A couple of weeks ago, I thought Challenge would be competitive with the top teams but after last week’s 0-8 loss to DKSC, I don’t expect much against FCD. FCD wins 5-0
3. DKSC- Texans are underrated defensively. Although they have no chance of winning, the game will not get too out of control. DKSC wins 3-0
4. Sting Austin – SA gets a layup game vs OK Celtic. SA wins 3-0
5. Sting Dallas Black- I was expecting more from SB this year considering their solid play last year. Although they are in my top 5, their record says otherwise. They find themselves outside of the top 5 in the standings.
**Albion vs Sting Royal. Albions wins 3-0
**Tulsa vs Classic Elite. Tough game but expect Tulsa to win 2-1

Kicks looked great 1st half, slowed a bit towards the end of 1st half, more Solar 2nd half.
Sting Blk 1-0 over DT

CrazySoccerParent wrote:I disagree I was surprised by a few results. Few weeks back feet whoops challenge 8-0 today FCD only beats challenge 1-0 as well FCD beats Albion 1-0 and Albion whoops Sting Royal 6-0. In addition no one has been able to score on Solar. I suspect the only team that has a chance to score on Solar this fall might be FCD. Anyone know when that game will be rescheduled? After this weekend I tend to believe that Feet is actually a better team than FCD with their starting 11 but the fact that FCD beat feet twice blows my mind but clearly makes FCD the better team in the standings.
Agreed CSP -- I think it all comes down to style of play, team to team matchup, and level of coaching ...
FCD is now and has been for awhile a low scoring affair kinda side ... In general, they allow very little yet score very little ... AG instituted that style immediately after taking the core of that team from LW a few years ago, and it's obviously been working out for them.
If DFeet can't score against Solar, FCD have very little chance to in my opinion ... It appears that Solar may remedied their GA issue from last year with the addition of a few back end pieces from coming over from FCD this year. DFeet have twice the offensive firepower and mindset of FCD, they just struggle against the best in the back due to a bit of lack'a athleticism, and their own style of play which often leave them vulnerable to counter attack.
As Angelina mentioned, to the naked eye, DFeet looked the stronger side much of that match ... I'd argue that they have superior chemistry to Solar and they easily completed twice the passes of their opponent. I'd also add that GV is the smartest of coaches in this conference ... His preparation for this matchup was clearly evident as his side was fantastic in clogging the midfield which the Solar kids have had so much success with so far this season. We'll see if BW can make a few counter adjustments for the next matchup (likely in the final of the upcoming DFeet Thanksgiving Showcase).
And yes ... The Solar-FCD match has been rescheduled for Wednesday 12/9 730pm at TSC. Should be fun!

Was going to post very similar thoughts to above. After having played both Dfeet and FCD this year, it IS indeed all about style of play and match ups. IMO, Dfeet has the superior chemistry and technical skills and plays all possession. FCD has more athleticism and plays more of a direct style. Both teams outstandingly coached.
Watching these games each time realizing how far behind STX is tough. Tip of the cap to these players and coaches.
On another note, looks like ECNL website is finally up to date w/ standings, so I'll stop posting my notepad screen shots

BigE I think the figure out how to push your buttons. Randomize standings and make it incomprehensible. Don’t try to figure it out it could make you go insane.

Champions League spots appear to be based on points earned, while standings are based on points-per-game.

BigE Don’t underestimate the pulpaneck effect with the additions from Solar ECNL. Those gals are studs. Both former DA players that picked HS soccer over DA silly rules. But yes the defense is definitely improved for lots of reasons!
