Didn't your coach kick her off the team? Why would he get rid of a "stud" goalie?
EXCUSE ME!!! That was MY kid and NO she was NOT kicked off the team. We left for our own reasons thank you very much. Not sure where you got your info but might want to check your sources because they are VERY bad.
She didn't want to be goalie just happens she is pretty darn good at it. She has a sister that is a full time goalie for a top DT team. Didn't want to go through what she has to for that position. She wasn't just a full time goalie on Solar but also one of their top midfielders. Her & the other 2 top forwards on Solar are worked great together up top.
We moved to DTN and are very happy with that move.
I can definitely appreciate any kid willing to go thru the goalie position. A striker can screw up all game and have one moment of brilliance and is the hero. A keeper can be brilliant all game and have one mistake and you are the reason the team lost. That being said, Strikers are everywhere but any team can use an outstanding keeper

Trust me I know goalies are needed as I stated I have a full time goalie in an older age bracket. My '04 dd just doesn't want to play the position and I will support her decision 100%. That is what a good parent does no matter what my feelings are on it. If one day she comes to me and tells me she wants to be goalie I will support her decision but at this time that is not what she wants period.
To answer FC ? about which DTN which one do you think a Solar '04 player would go to? Doesn't take rocket science to figure that one out.

Are you implying that any Solar '04 kid has to be so good that they would never stoop low enough to play on the DTN second team otherwise known as DTN United?
I sure hope that wasn't what you were implying.

Really no other way to take that comment sadly. This is what academy soccer is becoming. I've seen the snobbery first hand, as low as U5 mind you. Its great there are these super teams, but the development being accomplished on other teams should not be looked down on.
These super teams with super coaches and super players are usually also super prone to high burn out rates by the kids and parents, or how many times are good players and parents cast aside for the next "stud" because that super coach does this for a living and can't afford to fall out of the top 4 in the parent rankings or he can't pay the bills, so have to focus on that W.
For every Stud u5/7/8/9 player there are hundreds more that will simply step out of the shadows in a few years and match and in a lot of cases out perform that kid who every hailed as the next Mia at U8.

Okay twist it how ever you want to twist it. I really don't care. I have seen the United team and have close family friends on that team. They are great group of girls. So no dis on them at all.
I never said my dd was a "stud" but she is good solid player. She is 8 and I don't expect her to make a decision at 8 that this is her sport. She plays many sports at this age. She will day tell us which one she loves the most and we go with her decision. I don't call it burn out if say next year or 4yrs down the road she tells me she doesn't love soccer but loves say softball more. I call it finding her passion in something else.
I don't pressure either of my dd's to play at any time they come to me and say I don't want to do this I will back them up. At this time this they love playing soccer so I support them. I am not a crazy mom on the side line screaming at her during the game or at practice. She has a coach that is there to coach her. If her coaches (current or past) felt she wasn't the right fit for that team then I expect them to be upfront with us. At the end of the day as her parent I have to do what is right for my dd.
By the way I am out. I didn't want to get involved in this bashing of teams but I had to set the record straight when Crazy4Academy stated my dd was kicked off the team which was a down right lie.
