Re: 04 Rankings
How about asking Dom to play 9 v. 9 for the 04's at the Aces Tournament?

I agree that ranking teams in the same ranking when they don't play each other is difficult, but LP Dalglish is an '04 team and therefore should be considered in '04 rankings.

Honestly, I don't care about rankings and my daughter has no clue where her team stands. One thing she does care about is getting to play. Win or lose, it was a good game when she spends more time playing than she did on the bench. For that reason alone, I would prefer to play 9v9 and not have six or seven kids on the bench.

Right I can see this and agree. If you are going to play 7v7 u should not invite entire 9v9 squad. More than 11-12 is too many.

So other than benefitting the board and parental ego's I don't see a reason to take girls who play 9v9 and have the change to play 7v7 and have even more kids sitting on the bench. All for what? I think the girls are having fun. I think they have fun in practice and the games. I think the fun is in the soccer but I will admit to being extreme on that end. I don't think scores should be taken at that age. I think playing to win and development are too different things. I think there is too much parental pressure to win and not enough to work hard, effort, show skill. I think confidence should be borne by a belief in what "you" do not by your team, wins, or useless trophies. Being on a top team does not make you a good player and being on a bad team does not make you a bad player.
Daglish parents. If your team plans to consistently play up against '03's and rarely match up with the '04s, I suggest you avoid this blog and spend time on the '03 blog. If there is no benefit playing "down" to the 7v7 format and you choose to rate yourself against '03s, why spend time in this blog? Don't get me wrong, the advice is great and it really gives the rest of us something to strive for. If I were in your shoes, I would want to spend time conversing with people my DD is competing with.

I thought I saw where DaLglish (emphasis added on purpose) is playing with 04s in the upcoming tourney.

Wow Bitter much. If we rank your team above us can we stay? Feel free to leave Daglish out of the rankings if it makes you happy, could really care less. BTW looks like some form of Daglish will be playing in the 04's. Not sure if we are missing players or what the reason for it is but somebody will be there

Yeah. Won't lie... I was a WRECK last night and completely useless today... but watching my DD fly around at the RASE practice tonight lifted my spirits. And 5 soccer games between all my kids this weekend will make it all better.

Bitter much not so much. Just a suggestion that may have hit a little too close to home. I am sure everyone in the forum appreciates your squads taking the time to drop down to assert their domination. Daglish or DaLglish aside, for a team that pretends to care so much about their '03 competition, a lot of time is spent by LP supporters commenting on '04 teams. Once again, their is a blog for '03's........

go99 wrote:I don't thing of a "dropping down" or any other derogatory term you would like to use to inflame a little Daglish hate. I said I don't see the purpose or need for it other than to help the board decide where the teams are ranked. I could care less where they are ranked. I don't see a reason to bother changing the formation they play in for just a weekend. I don't see a reason to have a bunch of girls sitting on the sideline just so parental ego's can be satisfied. It may work for your DD because the coach will play her the whole game while others sit but our coach will try an balance the playtime. I don't know how many kids we have showing for the afc but I personally have no intention to spend my weekend watching my dd sit in a pack of girls.
But here is a tip for you. It's not your forum. It's a public forum so you are more than welcome to not read the post or drop of the forum.
It's not like even the starter of this thread uses any meaningful method, including head-to-head results or league standings(!!!), to offer their opinion of the rankings anyway. For instance, our team (Liverpool Barnes) is on top of the second division having won all of it's games but ranked 4 places behind a team we beat 4-1 in the same division. Solar Red Crushers who are midway in D1 are ranked 20th!
Just play where you want to play and don't worry about fanatics who are obssessed about ranking teams 3 1/2 years out from select. I could care less if we are ranked 15th or 45th but it's entertaining to poke holes in rankings which look like they've been put together by the dumber half of Pinky & The Brain!

I agree that ranking teams in the same ranking when they don't play each other is difficult, but LP Dalglish is an '04 team and therefore should be considered in '04 rankings.
Last year SRSA & DTS '03 wasn't considered in the '03 rankings during spring season if I remember correctly as they were not playing other '03 teams. The '02 as a courtesy did rank the SRSA & DTS '03 in the '02 rankings since they were playing up and beating D1 '02 squads.
Now it was assumed that SRSA was the top '03 team since they were beating top '02's but they weren't listed.
If you can't truly rank the caliber of teams Daglish is playing against other '04 teams playing each other then no they aren't part of the ranking system for our age bracket.

Finally, any team that plays in two age groups often is entitled to post and participate in discussions, rankings and other topics in both areas. This is not complicated people.

Re: 04 Rankings
1. Snot Boogie is allowed to play dice even though he always grabs the money and runs.
2. If you don't like the way rankings are done then you can start your own.
Last spring in the '03 threads there were rankings that did not include the top 3 teams: SRSA, DT South and Samba. I just checked and they had Sting Mendoza, Juventus Black, Solar Red Webb and Cosmos Black as teams #1-#4. That is how they did their rankings. This fall's rankings have all the top '03s.
Start your own rankings and rank only the teams you want to rank. This is all just for fun anyway. Rank the top teams that play in '04 leagues. Rank the top teams that don't wear red. Have at it!
