Wow. Ultimate upset weekend.

OSU loses to Iowa. OU loses to Baylor. Higg loses to Webb and FCD loses to South. Gotta love the fight from an underdog.

Congrats Webb and South.

Can your teams stay together to qualifying now?

Texans Fall Festival 02 champions-SRSA 02 Webb...Congrats!

Webb 02- 1
DT-South -0

After listening to the forum chats about FCD and Higgs, I realized that the game is played on the field, not on this forum. We all have our opinions. Webb is one of the top teams. This weekend, they showed, they are in that conversation with any of these two teams. With that said, FCD, Higgs, DT-South, played great soccer. These 3 teams have great 9 yr old players.

I dont think anyone ever disputed SRSA, Higgy or FCD -those three are interchnagable on any given day -look at all the 1-0 scores or ties . That sums it up . South was the suprise team of the weekend tieing Higgy and beating FCD- they have proven themselves to also be a top force.

Why make fun? It would be a major accomplishment for any of the other top teams as well...to have played with one sub...no guests and their coach not there for every game. The fact that it is South, who gets disrespected and underestimated all the time on this forum just makes it that much more amazing. So proud of them...I have many friends on this team...they are a great group of girls and parents and they deserve major kudos for their accomplishment. Their pool of players is more limited than the North teams and whether you are a fan of their coach or not, no one can take away the fact that he is doing amazing things with this team and he knows how to coach soccer. Also, this team lives, eats and breathes soccer. I can't imagine them not staying together.

Yes Congrats to South, but from the looks of the scores from the tourny South scored a grand total of 1 goal against FCD, Higg and Webb...and got absolutey wooped by FCD in pool play 3-0! I think the 20 min halfs very much benefitted South with having only 1 sub, they could keep there top talent on the field and not get as exhausted....while Higgy, Webb, and FCD all had 15-16 players and had to get them all on the field with less time to do it thus having to pull their better players to make time. The 20 min halves were huge in my opinion and would favor smaller rosters.

In know Polaris vs DT Vigil went to PK's in the playoffs.

Anyone know about all the other 1-0 playoff games?

Where there actual goals scored or did any of these games go to PK's after overtime?

Webb vs Higg 1-0
DT South vs Grubb 1-0
Webb vs DT South 1-0
Polaris vs Lubbock 1-0

Congrats to Polaris for 1st place Win & FC Lubbock for 2nd place win , both going under the radar for this tournament . Was told this FC Lubbock team just started academy 8months ago with no support from home association , so for getting their "feet wet" & taking 2nd is impressive .

South played hard yes, you can't take that away. They are a scrappy team. Let's relax just a bit. Did South win this thing? Everyone is acting like they did. I think the reason for the hype is because everyone is so surprised. Let's not forget they barely finished 500 in league play. They lost to all the top dogs and a defunct Bennett team. As far as the tourney, they tied Higgy who by the way played poor all weekend ( don't think any Higgy parent was happy with their results) you packed the box and held on for dear life. Then you got destroyed 3-0 by Grubb. From what I heard you were very lucky it was not 6. They camped out in your defensive third like they were at a State Park. You moved on and played Grubb in KO round. At least four shots and four corners down left side in first half. ( South keeper getting peppered) Grubb keep never touched ball in first half. Second half one defensive breakdown and South forward made Grubb pay. She is a great player and could start on the Rowdies today. ( bet Higgy thinks so too) after goal scored South played kickball. They had the wind and the lead so why not. Grubb clear PK at the end for Grubb (not called) and I think if everyone is honest they would agree it was a clear and nasty foul. Grubb had to come on field and help player. Give scrappy South credit, they don't give up.

Then I saw a few min of Webb game. What I saw and what I was told was a lot like Higgy game and second half of Grubb KO game. Pack it in and hold on. Not much attack, not getting forward much. Give Webb credit, like her or not she wins. She finds a way to get it done in tourneys. So I think the real Congrats goes to Webb. They are the ones who won a tough tough tourney.

Good observation by Baletolli fan. I was able to watch he Grubb game vs Webb on saturday night. Webb finds a way to win, but she has some great talent. The new goalie was taking away everything and coming off the ine with great confidence. and to this day, I still say that no one has an answer for Webb's speedy forward #18. I saw the goal she scored to win the game. She single-handedly went by 2 different defenders and scored a beautiful goal that eventually won the game. she has a bright future if she continues to learn the game. And with the addition of the goalie, they will be tough to score on.

Once again.... impertinence. By the way, what is this "you" stuff...my dd was playing in Prime Time.

Everyone expects Webb or Higgy to blow everyone away. I don't know what the games looked like, maybe it was ugly soccer. I just hate the way people always talk down about this team and disrespect their accomplishments. I truly believe it is because of where they live.

Enough from me...I have said more than I should...I am not on the team and I don't want to cause negativity or issues on here for them.

Yes South played hard. Nobody is saying they did not. They are the 4th best team in 02 age group. It's not a disrespect thing. It's a seeing the games thing. They rely heavily on stud up top. Then scrappy center mid and super fast sweep. They look more unorganized than Higgy and for sure Grubb. They don't try and go wide, and by the way their wingers seem to stay out and not slide in to help defend. You just don't see much service from outside. It's similar to Webb but Webb has better athletes and is better coached. I mean where was Gabe during the KO rounds. Really! The super short halfs did without a doubt help them. Any inferior team will take any advantage possible in a match ( short halfs, or missed PK ) heck I would.

That Webb player we speak of is a great athlete and she finds a way to put the ball between the pipes. That is the hardest thing to do in soccer. There is a reason offensive studs in pro soccer make the most money. Defenders can kick the ball away, and offensive players have to kick the ball between a small rectangle. That's as simple as it gets. Great job Webb! You back and forth with Grubb and Higgy during league play, but you find a way to win the tourneys.
You are the best! You better not slack cause we are on your A$$! Lol

Lol
I think one thing we can all agree on is that SOME (probably just a few) SRSA02 parents are as classless as they get . No denying the talent of the team but the parents need to grow up and get over themselves and quite acting like they have to prove something. Your team is recognized as a good top team -who as stated here clearly WINS many tournaments. I'm not making my assumption of these, parents from this post bc I realize it could be someone else. I am making my assumption by viewed behavior game after game. In fact this weekend a ref reported and many people watching the game, that they game was stopped and the coach was addressed because a SRSA parent threw an out of bounds ball over his head so the opposing team would have to chase it. SRSA was up 1-0 and time was running out. This behavior no doubt is not corrected , bc it continues to happen, we've all seen it. Wonder what Adrian would think of how his club is protrayed int he 02 division????. And yes the girl you constantly speak of is a good fast player one of the better 02's around- how does the rest of the team feel (or their parents-who I'm guessing there are some normal one) about the insinuation of this girl carrying the team. I just feel like a few of your parents feel they have something to prove like theyt arent being given credit-so they act a fool at games. No one has denied any credit to your girls-maybe if you live by forum rankings-but who cares about those. Grow up-get overyourselves and act as an adult at the game. Your kids and rest of the normal parents will thank you.
