Good player no doubt, though not as good (IMO) as the girl at ESD who also is a sr and has a scholarship to play for Anson Dorrance at North Carolina.
Not even close! HP girl is so much stronger and better.

..The ESD girl got a scholarship to North Carolina....a much stronger D1 women's program than where the H.P. girl will go.

I have seen both of them play against good competition.

Re: Powerade Fab 50 Rankings
There were only a few players from North Texas that should have been in the running for Gatorade POY. The one that was most deserving won!

Disagree with your first comment...both were in the running for Gatorade POY....one of them one, possibly more deserving but not IMO.

When it was all said and done, she was going to "North Carolina - Greensboro".
Hmmm ... not exactly.

There were 3 players from NTX, out of 4, that were the finalists for the Texas Gatorade player of the year.

Being great at ESD is really not that big of a deal. Being great against 5A or 4A is. There are plenty of other girls that would have put up better numbers against that weak of a schedule.

Not worth noting at all. It is easy to put up big numbers playing poor teams. Those former Ursuline teams were all star teams. They should have had a player win every year.

Over the years Greenhill has beaten Ursuline several times. SPC top schools, ESD, Hockaday,Greenhill and FWCD are stronger than most TAPPS schools. As has been mentioned, ESD and Greenhill were a combined 7-0 against TAPPS schools this past season and Ursuline cancelled their game at ESD scheduled for Feb 11th the week before the game...? If Ursuline played in SPC there is NO WAY they would win the title EVERY year.

And if any of the schools mentioned above played 5A soccer, none of them, other than Ursuline, would ever compete. See Hockaday's results in NEPS.

So the POY selection process seems to work ok when the HP girl beats out the ESD girl but when we find out private school players (specifically Ursuline) do pretty well it's because they play weaker teams and have padded stats. Hmmm.

Doesn't that mean private school players should win every year? Are there certain years where the selection panel regains their senses and realize how much Ursuline is taking advantage of a badly flawed process? I'm just trying to understand. I mean what have Jordan Walker, Alina Garciamendez and Jana Jeffrey really done since leaving Ursuline to validate their selection? Not much, right?

Alina was a starter on Stanford for 4 years. Not too bad. The jury is still out on Jana, although I didn't think she deserved it last year. I have never heard of the other.

Jordan Walker was a team captain for Anson Dorrance at NC. Won 3 national championships. I'm also guessing the jury (and impartial observers) would take a look at Jana's full ride to BC as well as minutes played/goals scored during her freshman season at a top program and return a favorable verdict.
