Wonder how they will handle rescheduled games... eg, Team A (D1) and Team B(D2), Team A plays Saturday and Team B plays Sunday. A Roster-ed girl can now play both games, Sat and Sunday. But if Saturday game has been rescheduled for next Sunday, when both Team A and B play, can she play both the games on the same day???

Player pass. Who wins? Who Loses? - Page 2 Empty Roster limits

Post by anothercrazysoccerdad 17/02/14, 04:22 pm

Looks like teams must still comply with the roster limits.  If you have 16 players on your roster in a max roster age group of 16 players, and you want to add for a player pass, someone will have to be "de-activated" or "injured" in order to add that player.  How many paying players will be OK with being "de-activated" for a game, if they are not truly injured?

I know for a fact that several clubs are going to use the player pass rule! So be ready!

This would be a good weekend for someone that plays in DIII but the club/coaches think could play in DI to get some touches. There are a couple of interesting scenarios but the only clubs that have DIII and DI teams are Sting and FCD. Both Sting West and FCD South are missing players so that would be the ideal scenario for the player pass rule. Plus both teams are tied at 5 points with FCD South holding the tie breaker. Three points would be huge, especially if the Warriors catch lighting in a bottle again and get another win.

(No idea if either team is doing it, just looking at the schedules and guessing so don't read too much into it).

With spring break travel starting this weekend
& '03 DI and DIII playing on separate days
It will be a 'player pass' frenzy.

It's quite painless to 'deactivate' a rostered player if they're not gonna be there anyway.
Get ready.

The few that I am aware of are DI players that are playing down, not up. It might not even have an impact. I just thought it was odd because they are all the same club.

So, if the post above is right, that would be Sting or FCD. I would assume it wouldnt be Sting, since two of those teams are playing each other this weekend in D3. I can't imagine that going over too well.

If it helps keep a team in the league...then the club may approve of such

Last time I trust something on this without reseaching. Solar also has a team in D1 and DIII. So, I supose as far as player pass rules in the 03 area, those are the only clubs that could do it. Think SRSA would loan players to DIII? That would be interesting.

Gtx, good insight. I'd put money on Sting G borrowing a guest keeper from Goodman or Skaife. That's enough for me to change my prediction.

Who loses? Helicopter parents, small independents and clubs with enough political baggage between teams to prevent them moving players as needed.

I think it's a great rule that allows coaches to run teams more in the spirit of real academies. Also  glad to hear players can move up or down divisions.

Actually, nobody wins with CPP.

CPP, is good and allows for those players the opportunity to advance their playing Lvl within a club.

Would they? They already have for multiple games. Ask you favorite solar coach JL. He is the biggest fan of CPP out there. Class act too. LOL

Afterthought. The JL team is an excellent argument for those that say that 1-2 CPP players don't necessarily make a difference in the outcome. Regrdless, they definiitely help, especially if they are playing down in divisions. SRSA '03 doesn't play in the LH '03 DI Div. They opted to play up in the 02 DII Div as they should! Therefore you are talking about girls playing down not only Divisions in their age group, but girls that are talentend enough to play up an age group all together. IMO CPP should only be allowed in same or lesser divisions. Mirror the Classic League rules. It's a no brainer to me, and the debate is tiresome, but if knew what the LH board members were thinking...... I might be convinced to buy snow from an esikimo. Insert Disclaimer * I'm am sincerely sorry if any eskimos were offended by these statements.
