Focusing on the 06s - none are in HS so there's that,  3x a week training and a recovery session day after games.
It's already been established that there are "only" 5 other teams to play in league games, plus another 6 in showcases so about 16 games?
I'm sure playing for another team is optional, but I think most of the girls could handle playing in LH in addition to that schedule.

Anyone who has been around north Texas long enough can tell you that this is code for:

1) We do call players up on occasion
2) Most of you will never see any real minutes in a DA game
3) There is a lot of talent money here, what can we say to keep them from jumping ship

Call it what you want but here is how I see it.....

DA has showcases and a National Playoffs
ECNL has showcases and a National Playoffs
TCL (or any NPL) also has a chance to make National Playoffs
Premier League has a chance to make National Playoffs
Lake Highlands has a chance to make National Playoffs

DPL has the promise of training with the top team "sometimes" and to "follow the same curriculum".  Shouldn't all teams follow the club's curriculum?  If five other leagues will send teams to a national playoff where college coaches will go watch, why would it make sense to be in developmental pool of players who are not even playing in a sanctioned league?  Meanwhile everyone else gets an opportunity to attract attention.

I am not entirely disagreeing with you, but if getting "college coaches to watch" is the main reason to play in a league with national playoffs, there are a half dozen tournaments in the country that offer just as good of exposure to colleges as the national finals you speak of. If a team is good (more specifically if a team is full of good players), they will attract attention.
My girls would more miss the simple competition of meaningful games that the playoffs of those leagues provide than they would any "exposure" from it which would likely be offset by the number of college coaches that watch DA training sessions (now with DPL players) or any major tournaments these teams would likely play in.

After reading this thread it sounds like DA2 is really just JDL's impotent older sibling. Probably will play in McKinney too.

Since DPL has ZERO affiliation with DA, other than the fact the same club runs it, and they promise to "on occasion" let the DPL kids attend a DA practice, why wouldn't those players be able to play HS?

Zizou quick question for you?  What would you say is the average number of college coaches that attend weekly DA training sessions?

5 coaches a week?
3 a month?
1 a week?

What is a good round number?

I would think it depends on the club, but my experience is 1-3 per week.

I have it on good authority  Wink  that college coaches attended more than half of the 04 FC Dallas GDA training sessions this year (sometimes more than a dozen at a time)

I was told the DA2 teams would be sanctioned by USYS and be eligible for State Cup, Regionals and Nationals. Also they were going to have some sort of affiliation with National League also ran by USYS for their showcases.

Probably smart thing as USYS is the League with all the big$$$ and in business longer than any other league.

That is a fair assessment. Still not enough to offer scholarships to everyone and usually they were there to follow up on players who have already committed. Even if they found a player in practice who showed well, the first thing they would want to do is see them in a game time situation.

For that to happen the team would have to participate in a league sanctioned by NTX...bpresently that is LHGCL, PPL, APL. Just being a NTX registered player does not do it.

Stop cheating SOS.  Don't act like you know more than ME  As I know exactly why they have more coaches than most and it isn't to evaluate new talent.  You can't tell ME any different.

Has it been a failure? I am admittedly ignorant about it, but it seemed from a distance to work well and accomplish its purpose. I am interested in hearing about what those with experience in it think about it.

My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend (Angelina) heard from this guy (Zizou) who knows this kid (BigE) who's going with a girl (Foxy) who said that DPL players will simultaneously be registered with USSF, USYSA, and ECNL, and play simultaneously in DA, DPL, ECNL, TCL, LH, PL, and NL. I guess it's pretty serious.

A failure? I think it is a step above Lake Highlands and a step below ECNL/DA. If DPL was a sanctioned league it would be on par with CL to be honest.

I'm not bragging but I will point out this is the exact behavior that spawned US Club in the first place.  The clubs do not like the restrictions that DA gives them (read USSF) and they begin to create their own leagues (read DPL)

https://www.txsoccer.net/t34377p100-da-ecnl-lh-solution#273692

Guest101 wrote:When has USSF ever had a great idea that worked?  Let's be honest, the reason US Club Soccer, and Elite Club National League exist is because the CLUBS did not like the restrictions that United States grass roots soccer had in place.  The clubs felt they could do it better so they created an environment where CLUBs have control, and to be honest they ran it well.

Enter USSF with a bunch of new changes and restrictions like age chart, playing format, practice to game ratio, coaching education requirements, and not to mention stipulations that prevent players from participating in other sports.  It's as if USSF said "you didn't like our rules the first time?  Watch us tighten our control and offer  a "chance" to make the Women's National Team pool in return."

History has a way of repeating itself.  USSF knows they made a mistake when they allowed US Club and ECNL to grow as big as they did.  It will be interesting to watch them regain control by rewarding the top 1% of players in the nation.  What do the other 99% have to look forward to?  COLLEGE, which is exactly what ECNL is doubling down on.  This pissing match will weaken both leagues.

IMO it's hit or miss and probably more lopsided than JDL. Some teams took whoever showed up. Several couldn't compete in LH D3. These secondary leagues "IMO" are truly money grabs that aren't competitive and as someone mentioned, a way to sell many consumers a bill of goods to lock in money. They are avenues for the bigs to have a closed system with no competition and it shows. I doubt any composite team could beat a LH D1 team. A few would be on the same level. DA2 or whatever they call it, sounds like the same premise. There should be 1 league for the super duper stars and another competitive league with relegation so you have distinct levels. We're headed toward dogs and cats mating in the streets and getting paid for it.
