Select advice
Select advice
Long story short:
My daughter has rec and academy experience. She is finishing up a rec season and working out with a local club in prep for select. My best guess is she would fit in the Plano league somewhere.
We are looking for a team that has a focus on having fun and learning soccer. Not one that is solely focused on winning, or creating scholarship eligible players. Being new to the NtX soccer scene, the price tag of the big club she is working out with now seems pricey for what we are looking for.
We have 2 other active kids, so ideally practices would be in the Frisco area.
I look forward to suggestions of coaches/clubs I should talk with.
Thank you.

Re: Select advice
There are other independent teams that I notice that are not listed but this should be a good start on how to contact them.

Re: Select advice
First I want to wish you good luck with your DD over the next couple months. Trying to find the right fit for your daughter before qualifying could be tough.
I however strongly believe that your DD, especially based on what you said above, has feedback on her team/coach. At the end of the day, she is still 9-10 years old. I would suggest finding a team that practices in Frisco and where your daughter gets along with the players and likes the coach. A lot of coaches and players out there may not be overly friendly.
My daughter has played for the same team for about 1.5 years after coming from another team. She has stayed because the players all get along and welcome new players equally too.
They are 10, they are girls -- so there shouldn't be a lot of cut throat playing/players ... no offense to the TOP 10-20 teams, if that's their goal.
Not sure if I actually gave any advice, but definitely believe that when you are looking at teams the next 2-3 months in Frisco (I'm only aware of Liverpool teams, FC Dallas teams and Dallas Texans teams) -- you find one she is happy to play with. If you go with LP, FCD or DT -- there are several teams for each club so try them all out to find her niche.

Re: Select advice
I am a coach of an 02 girls team for Meja Soccer Club. We practice at Stonebriar Church (Mondays) and Wakeland (Wednesdays) from 6:00 to 7:30. I would love to talk with you about giving us a look. I can also tell you that our price tag is not as steep as some of the other larger clubs.
We are a new team forming, so you would have a chance to jump in a help build the culture of parental support for this group. My focus as a coach is the development of all players who make the team. We will work with them to improve their skills, and help them to fall in love with soccer. Whereever we initially land competitively is unimportant, as we will start improving immediately.
