The issue is cheating. Parents when yourcoach who does this full time, knowingly cheats to win an academy tournament, why are you still there? Would you have a teacher involved in crime as a mentor to your child? Your team is now tarred with a cheater label that will follow them for years...

Thanks to Deleon for a chance to guess play. Whether you like the guy or cant stand him. You got to give him his due. The girls love playing for him and he is showing that he is a pretty good coach. A couple years ago him shocked the world with TBG. He had TBG playing against the big dawgs. Either tying, beating or losing to the likes of Kennington, DTS, Beardsley AKA Dalglish, LA/Juvi. For whatever reasons, he lost most of that bunch and is rebuilding pretty nicely. We were very impressed where he has his current team playing. I know he had a losing record in SLD 1 but having a new roster will do that to you. I heard DT will be working with him on how to fill out a roster next!!!!

Of course the small matter of cheating and being kicked out of the tournament kinda put a fly in your guest playing , didnt it? Suspect

Amen SilentParent ... having a coach who cheats is not a good example for 9 year olds.

Deleon in essence, are telling his original rostered girls, "Y'all aren't good enough so let me pull in 4 girls so you can at least make a run in this tournament."

Sad ... Sad

Bet your DD hadn't been on the same field against these teams in the same year. You probably come from a team that shelters you.

At the core, we as parents need to consider the long term ramifications when supporting any coach or circumstance that knowingly flirts with or breaks the rules. When our DD's are asked to make an ethical decisions later in life, they will use their experiences as a barometer to guide them. Maybe this was a clerical error, but it's a simple solution to own your mistakes and notify the tournament leaders and fellow coaches.

The leaders of the tournament have some blame in this situation as well. If the decision was made to continue to play after the roster was found to be incorrect, you stick with your decision and award the girls the medals and complement them on their hard work.

Still think NTX Soccer will need to step in and start making examples of coaches and associations that knowingly break the rules. I would rather have a passionate coach that cares about the developmental of the players off and on the field than a coach that's willing to break the rules.

And then you wake up to the real world. My daughter guess with Deleon this weekend. I pay fees to Sting FC as we played fulltime with Sting FC since the beginning of the year. I am ashamed at the way the Sting coach acted. She should have handled it differently. I feel sorry for the parents on both sides and especially the girls.

What mystifies me in this whole scenario is: Why did it take two players with the same number for anyone to audit the rosters?

Unfortunately, unscroupulous coaches do this all the time because they figure they won't get caught. When one does eventually make a mistake and get caught, they should be punished. Pure and simple.

Now...here come the politics. Had it been a "small club" coach, they would have been disqualified, and the coach suspended. Since it's a Texans (big club) coach, it will be deemed a "misunderstanding" or "clerical error". If a tournament throws out a big club team, the club will not send ANY teams the following year, reducing their income. A small club only has a team or two and who cares about them anyway...its a simple case of the rules not applying equally - and why absolutely nothing will come out of this. In this particular example, the reason there was no DQ and no named winner, is that if both big clubs are a little upset, then they might come back next year. If they DQ the Texans, they lose all Texan teams next year. If they award the medals to the Texans, they lose all Sting teams next year. As tournament organizers, they can't afford to upset the big clubs....so they allow them to cheat without consequence. It is what it is. Sad - we are talking about kids here and bastardizing their sense of fair play (which FIFA likes to tout so much).

Nocrying: I pray everyday that 1 more person in this world is willing to do the right thing versus the alternative. Your comment leads me to believe you think integrity is only a word, not a intentional ethical decision.

I am far from where I would like to be as a person, but my kids deserve every ounce of energy to be great human beings who show compassion and character.

What exactly did the Sting coach say that was so inappropriate? Did she take issue with the coach who clearly broke the rules? Did she take issue with inept administration? I stand by my statement, I would support any coach that had passion for the game and their players than I would the greatest coach who willingly broke rules.

You should not be going for the "club" ... you should be going for the coach who can take your child and develop her, not just as a player but as an individual with good character and integrity.
