At the core, we as parents need to consider the long term ramifications when supporting any coach or circumstance that knowingly flirts with or breaks the rules. When our DD's are asked to make an ethical decisions later in life, they will use their experiences as a barometer to guide them. Maybe this was a clerical error, but it's a simple solution to own your mistakes and notify the tournament leaders and fellow coaches.
The leaders of the tournament have some blame in this situation as well. If the decision was made to continue to play after the roster was found to be incorrect, you stick with your decision and award the girls the medals and complement them on their hard work.
Still think NTX Soccer will need to step in and start making examples of coaches and associations that knowingly break the rules. I would rather have a passionate coach that cares about the developmental of the players off and on the field than a coach that's willing to break the rules.
Great points - totally agree!

What exactly did the Sting coach say that was so inappropriate? Did she take issue with the coach who clearly broke the rules? Did she take issue with inept administration? I stand by my statement, I would support any coach that had passion for the game and their players than I would the greatest coach who willingly broke rules.
No one is perfect here. Don't know you, you don't me, and its cool if we keep it that way. Don't know the Sting, she could be a great human being buts its unfortunate that we (the people who don't know her) walked away with a bad impression of her. Its not fair to her. But that is reality. The fact that she had an 05 team in the finals of an 04 tournament also speaks volumes of her. If you were there, you heard what she said.

Deleon in essence, are telling his original rostered girls, "Y'all aren't good enough so let me pull in 4 girls so you can at least make a run in this tournament."
Sad ...
Sounds like your DD has some experience with being left off a tourney team.
and it sounds like you have experience with being on cheating teams.....

that's your mistake there. Its a parent's job to develop those traits. My daughter has all those traits already(maybe her dad doesn't according to some). Don't wait for someone else to develop your kids.whatwasithinking wrote:You should not be going for the "club" ... you should be going for the coach who can take your child and develop her, not just as a player but as an individual with good character and integrity.

It also speaks volumes about the '04 coach that felt he had to cheat to try to beat an '05 team. Pathetic!!!

According to Orbitzone who was at the sidelines of the game (see his/her post on page 1), The sting Coach never directed her comments to the kids. She directed it to the coach:
From Orbitzone:
"That is not true, I was there with my 03 DD on the field next to you guys and she never called any of the girls cheaters. She was calling the Texans coach a cheater. Still not professional but none the less not true. Only thing I can't figure out is when they caught this, why did the tournament director let the game continue? Bad decision IMO. They should have Disqualified the texans team immediately."

Would they even have made it that far without the 4 ineligible girls in their lineup?

Exactly, How loud would she have to be in order to have all parents hear her????? To be yelling "cheater" in the middle of the field and stomping her feet while the girls were attempting to shake hands? How are the girls suppose to take it?? She had to make a scene for her parents! She, in a way, instigated her parents to keep the situation going.whatwasithinking wrote:Nope, no mistake. This is a very sad situation on so many levels. If it truly was a mistake by DT, just say it was a mistake and someone (coach, manager, other parent) screwed up. Rules are rules and you should have followed them. Own up to it and teach your DDs the right lesson, not what has come out from DT parents in this forum. Please do not go after the other team's coach, its players, and parents.

interesting how you hold the other coach accountable for bringing the other teams cheating to light but never hold your coach accountable for WILLFUL CHEATING. I think we have a handle on you now....Nocrying wrote:Exactly, How loud would she have to be in order to have all parents hear her????? I am saying this, DT Deleon went 5-0 with all shutouts with 13 girls that were all of legal age and played in all the games all weekend long. Were there duplicate numbers out there, yes. Did that throw-off the players from the opposing team, I'll have to ask them. Did he do it all weekend, yes. Did someone screw up, heck yeah. Did we deserve to get DQ'd? If a rule was broken, then yes. But it should not take away from the girls and the work they did on the field.

If your team had officially followed the rules, there would not have been an issue. Your team has played in many tournaments and leagues. You know the drill of submitting rosters ... what was the difference this time?

shame on you for taking time to write these lies. its one thing to react in the heat of the moment but to have parents come on hear and find ways of defending her is a shame. I would have hoped that yall would have talked to her already about her reaction, but I guess your fear of being left off the next tournament is greater. Explain that to your kids.

Re: Tournaments this weekend - May 10-12th, 2013
Now, if the girls werent rostered correctly, and our technically ineligible to play, that is either a lazy manager or coach, but in academy who cares. They can bring anyone they want, and so can you, shut up and play. I am 100% sure they are not the only team playing this weekend that did not go through all the hoops to add a few players in the correct manner to their roster.
Also, if you are so low to call a roster check at half time of an academy game and find out a technical error, you either stop the game there or if you agree to play, you agree to the outcome. You can't say you are going to play it out and whine if you don't win.
Bottom line, the Texan group of little girls beat the Sting group of little girls on Sunday. What does it mean, nothing. It was one game on one day at a point where rosters are fluid. Trust me, in a few years you will be sick and tired of these stupid medals. I am so beaten down to by medal presentations, and soon you will be too.
