'04 League Scores 4/5 thru 4/6

Seasons almost over, time to start guess playing I guess.

Nice job of not reading and putting the A.S.S. in assumption. At no point did "I" ask what happened because I could care less. Infact I went bavk and checked and nobody asked. There was some LFS gray comments and a couple of    but nobody asked what happened. The excuse was volunteered. Your troll move was so good I had to go back and read my post. I was actually thinking "wow. did I ask that"

So, what is FCD Central Premier exactly? When they played SRFC, I noticed several players from FCD Premier on the field. Is it basically the Goodman players that came from Sting, plus FCD Premier players to fill in the spots?

looks like FCD-Tallal will be borrowing players until they can fill their roster. I believe most girls stayed with Sting.

Based on information from multiple sources, and what is posted on the SDL schedule, this is how I plan on treating the situation going forward:

Sting '04 Diaz will be treated as a continuation of Sting '04 Goodman/Tallal.
FCD Central '04 Tallal will be treated as a continuation of Sting '04 Tallal/Goodman.
FCD Central '04 Premier Tallal will be treated as a new team and will appear in the rankings once they have met the 3-game minimum for inclusion.

Time will sort everything out, and all of these teams will settle in to their appropriate placement based on their game results.

Because we all have an understanding now... when that stuff happens, it is due to the fact that they had plenty of opportunities but opted against putting the ball in the back of the net in the name of development. With that being said, no need to ask questions as we all have a thorough understanding of what happened.

I work with a guy who's daughter goes to school with a girl who's cousin was at the game on the field next to DTS. That is exactly how it happened

Breakaway, breakaway, pass through the middle and shes all alone. Running up the middle, shes going, shes going. Folks this could be the game right here.
The goalie is set, eyeing the ball. The striker makes a move and its.....wait...she passed it back..she passed it back. Wide open net for the win and she passed it back. Time expires and she passed it back.The crowd is silent

But she learned a ton and no one cares what the score was anyway!

okay too all of the coaches out there that do the just keep the ball and don' shoot to keep the score down (or even) it's stupid and teaches nothing. Stop it. Many of them do it and it's still stupid. Try this instead. Play your normal possesion style and limit the touches. Younger ages start with maybe no more than three touches. If they are able to still attack and score drop to two touch and finally down to 1. You will find that this will stop them from scoring and force them learn to play the game faster and more efficient and also force them to think ahead and read the game. Oh and every time they go over touches kick it up the field to the other team and start over (requiring you to defend and close the ball down)

Does anyone know the style of play of the top 10 '04 teams? Long ball or possession or combo of both? For those that have seen all the teams play can you comment? What style does the top 00,01.02.03 play in select?

The top team plays nothing but the long ball. They can not string together more than 1/2 of a pass. They often get lucky on their speed. The other 9 teams play a very methodical possession style game.

We all knew this topic was going to get to RASE somehow. I just didn't know this would be how it got there.

I didn't see the game in question, but if the statement "we passed up wide open shots" is true, the coach needs to be questioned. I find it hard to believe that any coach would think that would teach anything.

The style of play question for the upper echelon of teams is a good one and I think would make for an interesting conversation. I can only speak for the teams I have seen, so I would classify each as:

RASE - can play whatever style they want. The athleticism on this team is unreal but what separates them from the rest is the soccer IQ most of them possess. Good possession soccer and always wanting to go forward.

LFS - can definitely keep the ball against weaker teams but against better sides ball tends to be sent forward without much purpose.

Dalglish - tries to play possession but are more successful when relying on athleticism.

DTS - mix of possession and "get the ball to the best forward in the metroplex." Style still developing.

DT Scott - probably most possession oriented team we have played. They play some really good stuff at times and have the ball more often than not, but really don't create as many chances as they should.

TX Spirit - get it to the two forwards immediately (or their AM). Don't really blame them in this as any coach would want the ball on these girls feet as much as possible.

Sting (all) - hoof!

These are just one persons opinions and in no way are intended to demean any team. What makes this game great is that there are different styles and each has proven to be successful at even the highest of levels.

We should all be proud. 11 pages and no real mention of the "Force". Lets mend some fences people.
