Boom down South

Why are we not talking about South blowing up. .?
South is done folks , after a tourney in Kansas South done blew up, parents fighting, coach yelling. It's done, players scrambling to get spot , FCd has sum, texans got some- solar too. So what happens to dat D1spot.? Texans own it but ain't got nobody good enough to fill it with, nobody they got gonna hold their own in D1.

 

GA could have his 03s play in that spot and move the 04s up to 03s. Heard he had a large turn out at tryouts. Not sure how big the boom is when all they do is lock and reload.

Who know,  I heard they lost like 5-6 players. Even if they lost 5-6 players, DTS will more than likely be able to find some players. They are a LH D1 team. Once ppl hear they have vacancies DD's will start coming in. It also helps they are down South. They are pretty much the cream of the crop south of I-30.  They could pull players from other teams easy. Teams like FCD South, Waco, and Saints are all relatively close. Sure some of those teams have girls looking to step up to the next level.

I heard the 03 team went boom as well? And a few of the 04s looking around. Just a rumor?

If true, what an impact to South teams. They have been on top of their games over there for some time.

I think the '03 team was possibly losing a girl or two, but I don't believe they will go "boom."

Not hating, GA has produced some quality teams, and from my experience he is a great coach and a nice guy. Its none of my concern as my DD doesn't play for him, but must be hard to keep all those teams happy? But he is certainly doing something right.

What? Are you saying that in June a couple of girls might be looking around? That's unheard of... I also hear there are new girls looking at DTS from other teams in all the age groups every practice.

What is going on? What will South do? I don't understand! Why now??!!!

All sarcasm aside, GA is ONLY coach to have produced a top 3 team in 4 consecutive age groups. It's not from recruiting superstars and giving free rides. GA just makes good teams and so I think South will be fine....

DTS update: 04's have 2 spots open , 03's have 1 spot open , 02's have 4 spots open. I wouldn't call that boom. DTS will be fine sorry to disappoint you.

Seriously I think south will be fine.  Great coach and a solid region locked talent pool

4 girls left. Good quality girls that left but good quality girls still there. I am quite sure good quality girls will also come out to practices. They will be fine.

Mommabear and go99, It was 6 to 8 girls who left the team. I was told all were starters. Where do you pick up 6 to 8 D1 players laying around the South?

well the beauty of the south is being region locked with only a few choices. The biggest danger to the south teams (all of them) is the willingness of parents to travel North for teams. DD's team has some amazing players that are from the southern region. That would have never happened in the past

but if in fact 6 players left. This is starting to get a little late to replace them with quality.

I'm surprised teams such as Fwfc, Liverpool Jones, Dynasty, and Fc Dallas South are not lining up to play for a good coach and a chance to play D1 competition.

That implies that they would be willing to leave their current coach and at least a some of their friends (not everybody can drive there or be able to afford DT prices) just so they can play D1 (for maybe only one year). Some people got a good thing going where they are and aren't clamoring for D1 as soon as possible (just so they can burn out by the time hit high school).

Friendly parenting advice-if your dd is attending open practices & you don't want your current coach to know, probably shouldn't post picts on Instagram!!

Well if 6+ players all leave, there is prolly a reason. Could of been the coach, or the players, or the parents. No one knows. Willing to bet that DTS will be just fine. May have a drop off in play but they will more than likely continue to be a solid top five team. They will draw some players from somewhere. But like aTmag said, D1 isn't the top priority for everyone.... Which is fine. If the player is receiving quality playing time, developing, and enjoying it, why would they leave. Especially if they are getting all that for a 1/4 of the price.

I know from my '98 that burn out is a big issue. She joined a team that had played D1 since u11. If you look back at their original u11 roster about half isn't playing soccer at all anymore. A few additional are only playing HS. '02 parents shouldn't be in a hurry.

I guess El Rey is implying that the girls in the "region locked South" could not or are not happy with their current team. My DD loves her friends (team mates), her great coaches and the supportive parents that make up her team as are we. Not everyone has the money or the time as our athletes are involved in many endeavors that will make them well rounded athletes and individuals. I would think more DDs and their parents would be looking for this steady and stable environment. We are happy here in the South and we play great team soccer. So here is to the DDs and their parents that make up the South region. Stay strong and represent well.  BTW aTmag is wise in his advice to 02 parents.

From what it looks like FCD got 3- Solar got 2 and , texans got 2- not sure where others will go. Problem is another good competitive top 5 team is gone! They won't replace those girls soon enough to be very strong. I always thought South was a dangerous wild card, they weren't always consistent but when on - they could beat anyone.
