it is not the only solution to NTX soccer problems, but it is the one that can be the start of change. Stop ranking youth teams and let kids grow and enjoy playing the game.

I'm trying to figure out if it's hilarious, or just plain sad, that a fat guy with a laptop and no tangible knowledge about soccer, has apparently managed to become the single most influential person in NTX girls academy soccer...

I thought FBR only included results between 06 & 06 teams.

The published FBR will only include 06 teams

so if i 06 team is playing up in the 05s you will still count there results.

This has been explained every year since the 01s.

Only 05 games where 06 play 06. But not against 05s.

gotcha so is that the same for when a 06 plays an 07

The 07 teams that play in 06 league go into the FBR. But the 07 teams are deleted from the published FBR

The reason why games played against older opponents are generally not used in the ranking of the younger team has to do with the ability to calculate an accurate strength of schedule for the older team against the younger teams.

As an example, let's take the specific case of an '07 team playing up in an '06 league or tournament bracket...  

That '07 team will end up playing games against multiple teams from the '06 database.  Because those '06 opponents have also played multiple games against other '06 teams in the '06 database, statistics will give you a reasonably accurate assessment of the strength of the '07 teams' '06 opponents, and thus results in those games will provide a reasonably accurate assessment of the strength of that '07 team relative to all of the other '06 teams.

Now, let's look at the same situation from the perspective of the '06 teams...

For most of those '06 teams, the game they play against the '07 opponent will quite possibly be the only game they play against an '07 opponent.  Since the '06 team has only played 1 '07 opponent, and because it's likely that the '07 opponent is also not playing many games against other '07 teams (because they are playing up against '06's), the statistics for the '06 team relative to the '07 database of teams are far less, and thus calculating an accurate strength of schedule for that '06 team relative to the '07's, is much more difficult.

MY personal philosophy has always been to try to include as much game data as possible, as long as I can apply that game data in an accurate manner.  Therefore, I have historically included results of games between teams from 2 different age groups in the older age group's ranking calculation, but not in the younger age group's calculation.

To the best of my knowledge, FBR06 is planning to follow my methods and recommendations pretty closely, if not exactly.
