02 Week 5 Top 20 Rankings Empty 02 Week 5 Top 20 Rankings

Post by RoidRage 22/03/11, 09:35 am

I know we have a computer ranking now, but I would like to see how close mine is to the computers! Plus it adds a human element!
1. Rowdies 3-0-2 (still think they could beat the rest on most days)
2. Solar-Webb 8-1-1
3. FCD 3-1-1 (Tied Glotz....so now there even)
3. DT Glotz 6-2-2 (tied FCD...only 2 losses are to Webb)
5. Fever Red 4-1 (Jumps Stavou)
6. DT South 7-3 (beat Stav....big game against Glotz)
7(tied). Solar Stav 7-3 (lost 2 games DT South and Dynamo...trouble on Sundays without FCD guests?)
7(tied). Solar Dynamo 5-4-1 (beat Stav, lose to Webb 03, one step forward one step back)
9. Feet ???? (great Def, no off.....need score against DT-Vigil)
10. TFC Elite 3-1
11.DT Rangel 2-4-2 (tied Feet)
12. Solar East 3-4-3 (beat TFC Larry, lost to Webb)
13. FCD Renfro ???? (need score from this week against Aces Black)
14. Solar Tarrant 4-1 (first loss this season to DT South 03)
15. Polaris 4-0-1 (moves up 1 spot with tie and Andromeda loss)
16. Texas Spirit North 4-1 (moves up with win and Andromeda loss)
17. TFC Wells 3-2 (moves up 2 spots with win over Andro)
18. Andro Patt 2-2-1 (moves down 3 spots with loss)
19. DTVigil ???? (need score from this week vs Feet)
20. Sparta 3-1-1

With spring break some teams might have been missing key pieces, so results this week could of been out of wacky from the norm!

03 Teams
1. SRSA Webb (beat Dynamo...moves up to would be 7th)
2. DT South (still holding at 11th)
3. Feet 03 (drops down to would be 17th with loss to unranked Cosmos)
4. Juventus Black (whoopin up on 02 D3' s)

Hey RR,

Definitely keep posting your rankings! There is much added value in having a human opinion poll in addition to the computers.

Human polls are much better at applying head-to-head logic (i.e. can't rank team A ahead of team B because team A lost to team B), and also reflect recency better than computer polls.

Computer polls reflect a better view of a teams average performance over a given time period, and are less susceptible to "homerism".

It's always good to see it from both sides IMO...

I should have updated '02 FBR rankings out by tonight or tomorrow morning.

They won 3-2 on Sat. - on a questionable goal at the end of the game. Not exactly a "whoopin." A long way too go to catch SRSA and DT.

I would like to see the break down of team playing 11v11 vs 9v9 as you all know it's a big change for the girls. I think it would alter the ranks a bit. We are all seeing strong dominating teams struggle to learn new positions and new formations in 11v11 but are undefeated in 9v9. I say this as a parent who's team is playing both 9v9 & 11v11.

While SRSA '03 may be kicking butt in 9v9 they may fall flat on their faces in 11v11. So breaking down the rankings to show would be neat to see.

1. Solar-Webb 12-1-1
2. FCD 3-1-1
3. DT Glotz 6-2-2
4. Fever Red 4-1
5. DT South 7-3
6. Solar Stav 7-3
7. Feet ?
8. TFC Elite 3-1
9. DT Rangel 2-4-2
10. Solar East 3-4-3

I didn't rank Rowdies because I truly believe that they need to compete in this league in order to be truly ranked. Before this season started, we all thought FCD was the best thing since slice pie. Webb came along and actually played the game on the field. If the Rowdies beat Webb, then I'll put them at the top. Its only fair to all these teams that have competed against each other. It would be nice to see! Have a great day!

It was a close game. Juve had trouble working the ball with the wind and their opponents propensity to kick the ball downfieild as far as possible over and over again. The long ball method worked for a couple of goals. The long ball method works well in the right conditions in this age-group. Skill, as always, won out in the end.

I never saw the questionable part of the last goal although the opposing parents certainly cornered the ref after the game to let him know they were not pleased with losing the match to younger, faster, smaller yet more talented girls.

Juve does not claim to be on the level of the teams mentioned. Just trying to be the best they can be with schedule they are given.

Roid,

Not sure what you want to do with the info I am about to give you, but do as you please. Fever 02 WHITE as of the weekend before Spring Break was 4-1 in Primetime 9v9 01's. Not sure what they did last weekend, but at worst they would be 4-2 if not 5-1 right now. I think they belong somewhere in your top 20.

I'm glad someone mentioned the last goal, because the ref later admitted he should have stopped play and issued a restart. They have a scrappy team none the less but LP was out (2) starting defenders and a GK. Reserve GK stepped up to the challenge and did a good job. Not taking anything away from Juve or making excuses for LP, but it was a shame that it ended on a blown call.

Have they beat any of the teams in the poll? I'll check out the PTSAL website. I might be under estimating them. I have made mistake before....TFC Elite went from unranked to top 10 in 1 week. When they get that signature win or tie it will be a attention getter!

The score shouldve been 4-2. Another goal didnt count and it should've counted when the goalie clearly caught the ball inside the box! And Juve has won all of their 5 games thus far. No doubt they have a ways 2 go to catch up to SRSA and DT. Nobody said they didnt. But the GAP is closing and closing quickly. And might I add the Liverpool'02 Hansen(Savage) use to be in D2 but lost players and dropped down to D3 to regroup. So if you want to bring up questionable goals discuss ALL of them not just one of them.

They won 3-2 on Sat. - on a questionable goal at the end of the game. Not exactly a "whoopin." A long way too go to catch SRSA and DT.

The score shouldve been 4-2. WRONG Another goal didnt count and it should've counted when the goalie clearly caught the ball inside the box!

Same play. The ref came running in waiving his arms to signal that the ball didn't cross the line- confused the 8 yr olds - the goalie and defenders stopped - goalie rolled the ball to the ref and play stopped - seconds later ref yells "keep playing" - mass confusion - goal. The ref apologized to the coach and team mgr and said he should have stopped play. I believe that does address all the questionable goals

This thread started today, why do we need a new ranking and thread? RoidRage edits and publishes his updated rankings each week, on a new thread in the forum. All are welcome to publish their own rankings.

Would like to see several "human polls", so BWGophers can combine with his FBR computer rankings for a total combined ranking system, fun to read.

Neither the less Juve WON. Dont like the statement. "The win was on a questionable goal". A win is a Win. Dont take away a teams hard work.

They won 3-2 on Sat. - on a questionable goal at the end of the game. Not exactly a "whoopin." A long way too go to catch SRSA and DT.

What exactly is it that you think the ref should have called? What you are calling a questionable goal should not have been in question in the first place. Your goalie clearly caught the ball already inside the goal box and fell back into the goal with it. She knew it was a goal and thus stood up and threw the ball on the ground in front of the goal for the teams to line up. Since the ref DID NOT call the first goal a goal, and the ball was live in front of the box where your goalie dropped it, Juve did what ANY team would have done and that's put it in the back of the net. There was no penalty, no out of bounds, so NO WHISTLE, so why should the ref have issued a restart? I'm confused.... What in your eyes would have prompted a restart? You are right though, Juve is a scrappy team. They are 7 and 8 year old girls who have fun playing soccer together. They work hard and they strive to be the best. Don't try to minimize their efforts because you're obviously a sore loser. Juve won fair and square, just ask your Goalie.....

I dont like your original comment sounding like a sore loser. Take the lost with your head held high. Actually it is not your lost. It's DD'02's lost. And I'm sure they have already forgotten about it. "they won on a questionable goal. "a win is a win". Just say Juve Won.

I did, she's my DD! She gave the ref the ball because he told everyone to stop! The poor kid felt bad she did what she was told.

Ref admitted he caused confusion and due to the age group participating he should have never declared them to play on and issued a restart. If the situation was reversed you'd be likely be feeling
the same.

Look, you beat an older group of girls missing key players, congradulations. You have a great forward that your team is built around, excellent. A player on your team even took it upon herself to compliment my DD for a game well played in goal, great sportsmanship. Whether the game was a draw or not, both teams played hard and strived to do their best.

I agree with most of what you stated. Your DD did do an excellent job especially if she's the back-up. She had some great saves but at the end of the day, she did make what I consider to be an unexperienced goalie mistake. If the questionable goal had not counted, certainly the one before it when she fell on her back inside the goal with the ball would have. Blame the ref, I don't care, what still is not making sense is that you all are saying the ref told everyone to stop. Now why would a ref speak the word stop, rather than blowing his whistle and we all know there was no whistle. What would have happened for him to say stop in the first place???? There was no foul, and if your DD did not think the first goal was indeed a goal, then why not punt the ball? You all have a pretty good team, one of the toughest we've played so far in the 02 division. We'll never see eye to eye on what happened but at the end of the day, Juve came away with the win.

No one affliated with Juventus started this blog. No one from Juve came on here like we had some type of bragging rights. It was some one from your team who started this entire debate. We only defended our team and what you guys were calling a questionable goal. Juve may not be on the same level with SRSA or DT, but we never claimed to be either. We haven't said one thing about the playing level of any team. That's not who we are or how we work. I will say this though, our team is on the fast track to greatness and eventually WE WILL GET THERE!

1. Rowdies 3-0-2 (still think they could beat the rest on most days)
2. Solar-Webb 8-1-1
3. FCD 3-1-1 (Tied Glotz....so now there even)
3. DT Glotz 6-2-2 (tied FCD...only 2 losses are to Webb)
5. Fever Red 4-1 (Jumps Stavou)
6. DT South 7-3 (beat Stav....big game against Glotz)
7. Solar Stav 7-3 (lost 2 games DT South and Dynamo...trouble on Sundays without FCD guests?)
9. Feet ???? (great Def, no off.....need score against DT-Vigil)
10. TFC Elite 3-1
11.DT Rangel 2-4-2 (tied Feet)
12. Solar East 3-4-3 (beat TFC Larry, lost to Webb)
13. FCD Renfro ???? (need score from this week against Aces Black)
14. Solar Tarrant 4-1 (first loss this season to DT South 03)
15. Polaris 4-0-1 (moves up 1 spot with tie and Andromeda loss)
16. Texas Spirit North 4-1 (moves up with win and Andromeda loss)
17. TFC Wells 3-2 (moves up 2 spots with win over Andro)
18. Andro Patt 2-2-1 (moves down 3 spots with loss)
19. DTVigil ???? (need score from this week vs Feet)
20. Sparta 3-1-1

With spring break some teams might have been missing key pieces, so results this week could of been out of wacky from the norm!

03 Teams
1. SRSA Webb (beat Dynamo...moves up to would be 7th)
2. DT South (still holding at 11th)
3. Feet 03 (drops down to would be 17th with loss to unranked Cosmos)
4. Juventus Black (whoopin up on 02 D3' s)

I dont like your original comment sounding like a sore loser. Take the lost with your head held high. Actually it is not your lost. It's DD'02's lost. And I'm sure they have already forgotten about it. "they won on a questionable goal. "a win is a win". Just say Juve Won.

Then perhaps you should read the comment again in context. A win is a win. However, in terms of rankings (which the post was in response to) the quality and manner in which a game is won is relevant. Notice how the post was in a "rankings" thread - in response to a claim Juve was "whoopin" 02s. Nothing was ever said to disparage Juve's win when the score was posted in the "score" thread because it really doesn't matter.
