Re: Who's playing in the hurst 3 vs 3 live
Maybe a totally free tournament held on grounds that are donated or volunteered? You play for bragging rights instead of trophies and medals? Still use brackets and the lot but make it all about the fun of playing instead of what you get to take home afterwards... Who's up for something like that? Leave money and trophies out of the equation and only collect if there is a field rental - in that case all players would pay like $2 or $3 to play instead of $25 - $50.
My guess is there would be limited takers cause why play if there's nothing to play for right? That would be a parents mentality.

Get the parents to drop them off and go home. Let the kids coach themselves. They'll do just fine.

Better advice has never been spoken (uhh or written). The only problems with the system are the parents. Your DD doesn't need anything from you to play 3v3 soccer, deal with it and find something productive to do.

At least have a 30 yard buffer zone from field to parents. When your DD tells you to move back so she can take the kick you just might be too close. It's the one thing about indoor I like, side boards and glass. The kids simply can't hear the parents.

True that, except the really loud ones that find a way to get their voice heard OVER the glass barrier...

Re: Who's playing in the hurst 3 vs 3 live
This would totally eliminate the whole bragging ascpect of winning from the parents, heck it would be ideal if the parents would just leave the fields but that's not going to happen, and just lets kids play the game.
At this point it would be easy to pick out the crazy parents from the ones that truly do want their kids to develop and enjoy the game. The typical response from the crazy parent to something like this is, "I pay my money so I need to have a say in everything that's going on with my daughters soccer experience" much like I'm sure they review every movie they let their kids watch, sit in on every class the kid has to take at school, etc... The reality is they just want to make sure they can yell at their daughter to run harder, kick it harder, and be physical every waking moment

RASE or Honey Badgers?
I'm going to assume RASE cause the words "sore loser" were used in that statement and RASE never lost a match so likely they meant they weren't that impressed with RASE.
Well you were impressed enough to proclaim one of them the best player in the 04 age group in a previous quote! Would be interested to know which team you are associated with cos I heard they killed everyone.
What???? I was agreeing with your statement - read what I wrote and again and then get back to me... I was putting his statement into perspective as you were asking which team he was talking about - based on his use of words I was assuming it was RASE and he was associated with one of the Odyssey teams.
That was aimed at Soccapeeps who is obviously a Galaxy or Honey Badgers parent.
Honey badgers never played RASE Saturday. So I don't think they would be "sore" losers. Probably the Galaxy coach. If so, he should probably worry about being "prepared" for other teams first. Like any other one they played this weekend.
Galaxy Coach here... the above quote of not from me or any of our parents. We played RASE and knew what we were in for. We lost 7-2, I think, but it could have been worse as they lighten up in the 2nd half. I don't see how anyone could say they were not impressed. Not only were they good as a team, but then they isolated you 1v1, and get you like that as well. I love my girls playing against teams like this. Also fair to mention that their parents were great and cheered at appropiate times and with class.

Re: Who's playing in the hurst 3 vs 3 live
In regards to the coaches and parents yelling at there kids (and I am just as guilty to). Except for this 3v3 i have been doing well with positive feedback and not critizing my DD. But our Honey Badgers are in a slump. Well be back in form soon hopefully.
Back to the point - I am a big proponent of not asking my daughter to do anything i wouldnt do. So i started playing indoor/outdoor 2 to 3 years ago. It will give you some perspective of what they go thru on the field. I would love to see some of these coaches or parents play in a 3v3 environment or indoor/outdoor. They will notice real quick that it is not easy. It does amaze me sometimes that we yell at our kids like they are gladiators in roman times. Or we criticize them harshly for there mistakes.
Maybe we should put together a 3v3 for parents/coaches and let the kids yell at us and criticize our mistakes.

I took an adult Coerver class for this reason last spring. Pullbacks, step overs, etc etc look easy, shouldn't be a problem. Kicked my a$$; mine, my husband's, and that of a teammate's dad who took the class with us. Now I don't yell at my kids for not using skills in games; I have much more respect for how difficult they are to just plain execute, much less use under pressure.

Couldn't agree more with anything you say - so true . . . my observation is that some of the most intense, loud parents are the ones that could benefit most from playing in a 3v3 tournament, or just going to a gym. Not sure if they are deriving their own value from how their DDs play or what, but some of the 'smoothest, calmest' parents I know are also pretty fit and athletic - my guess is they have their own fitness goals they are working towards and don't have to live through their DDs. I am sure there are exceptions to these observations, but it seems to play out time and time again. Loud parents need to exercise their bodies and not their mouths. Let's build our DDs confidence and not destroy it through obnoxious behavior.
Have a great 4th everyone! Just remember, you don't have to scream at your DD if she doesn't light her sparkler correctly

Totally agree. My interaction with RASE parents have always been positive . . . I wonder if there is a correlation with their DDs play and their general demeanor? I am sure some of them have their moments, but I have always been impressed with how their DDs play and how the parents carry themselves.
Also, I totally agree with the Galaxy coach. I wish RASE would play in more 3v3s in their own age group . . . it would help the rest of our teams improve and be challenged. Plus, you never know when the 1980 Miracle on Ice might happen in 9 year old NTX girl 3v3 soccer and an upset occur
Quick question: Do we know what the final score of the RASE vs Dalglish game was in the Final? I am sure it was a competitive but respectful game.

Great players and classy parents!! It's very easy to be gracious when you always win. They certainly may be be a gracious bunch either way, but I'll reserve judgement until they start losing to 04s (not that it's going to happen anytime soon)

Change how? I'm guess parents will start yelling/screaming obnoxious remarks at the opposing team because of a few losses??
