Definitely my top three teams for D3.
Watch out for Fever as well. Very athletic!!

Good luck with those being the top 3, d'feeters barely got past Keegan and holder lost 2 games in qualifying. I have said before holder is a top team but there are a lot of good teams in d3. I could care less, I'm just glade Liverpool long ball didn't win. I do feel sorry for the girls that didn't make it this week, I know they worked hard.

Fever was the only team that didn't lose a game and only had 1 goal scored on in 2 weeks. D'feeters are a very good team, but last year was very inconsistent in d3. So maybe watch out for andromeda next year.

Correction, FC Dallas White didn't lose any games in the QT (either rounds)...not in King Tut either.

Perfect! And as I said in a previous post deserved to be there and everyone better watch out. Lots of teams added quality players, lots of teams lost quality players, so a team can make a big improvement in 1 year. After July 1st anything can happen. Good luck to all the teams that made it.

Watched a lot of games over the past week. Congrats to Fever United who made it this year with something to prove after missing narrowly last year. Congrats to FCD White who as mentioned has not lost in awhile and had some players leave for greener pastures. Congrats to D'Feet making it back in. They are a slightly better team than last year. They play possession style soccer and a great team. Congrats to FCD WTX Holder who had something to prove coming to NTX. I wish them, sorry other teams, the best of luck - their players will have the longest commute to take care of business every week.

Sorry for all the teams that didn't make it last week or those that missed out this week. Surprised again that LP Keegan didn't make it in. Thought LP Dalglish would have made it in, but they only scored 1 goal this past weekend. FCD Black matched Dalglish and missed out too - both should do well in PPL. Mutiny had a tough bracket in my opinion and until today's 3-0 score, played D'Feet (into LHGCL) and LP Keegan tough.

Which LP team do you consider a long ball team; Keegan or Dalglish?

They are a very good team, not sure if they lost/gained anyone. I think Mustangs are pretty strong team too. We'll see what happens with FWFC too.

And lastly... Fever's GK is very good! Between her and their back line they will ensure games are close; either win or tie - like the past two weeks. Wouldn't be surprised if they are in the Top 3; of course it doesn't hurt their coach is also the now D1 Fever's coach as well. He must have a knack for coaching and recruiting quality players.

I believe Ali is the coach for the D1 Fever team and Penn is the coach for this Fever team, two different coaches. As for FWFC, lost 5 starters including goalie and 3 subs. Like I said before, should definitely be an interesting/competitive season in D3 with the addition of these 4 teams.

Such a bummer LP Keegan didn't get in again. They are a really good team and did so well. It is crazy how it ended up. Hope they don't give up and come back next year again. They are as good as most D3 teams...just haven't had luck of the brackets on their side the last two years.

LP Keegan is a good team, but they got knocked out by a team that plays possession soccer. Until they stop trying to beat everyone with long ball and speed it will happen every year. Brackets had nothing to do with it. If they are as good as most d3 teams they would be in.

Crazy sport. Gave up 1 goal in 6 games, and were eliminated. 5 wins, 1 loss, 1 GA.

Juxtapose that record with letting a team in that played no one. It's cruel fate meets sham rules.

Chill down. Keegan has consistently pulled wins through tourneys and through QT.  I just hate it for those girls who work so hard and get soooo close.  Must be heartbreaking.

Pale rider, who did they play the first week that was tough, no one, they got a free pass to the second week. Who do you think played no one and got in? The best teams came out on top. It does suck for the girls, because as mommabear said they do work hard.

Well, we know that ain't entirely true. There are a few teams in D3 given gift byes that have been the topic of discussion on here recently. Tell you what, you take your pick of five teams in D3 and I'll pick five teams outside of the league and we'll see. I really like my chances though. I'll give you mine now:

Andromeda West
FCD WTX Richardson
LP Keegan
FCD Black
LP Dalglish

No doubt! There should have been at least 2 more byes on the table, but that's not the case. I'll take all 4 of the teams that got in this weekend because they have already beaten those teams, they are in and your teams aren't. All the teams you listed are good teams, but they should have put it away when given the chance, that's what the better teams do. Qt shows who wants it more. Good luck next year though.

I wouldn't doubt the desire of those who didn't make it this weekend. Sometimes its just who hangs on the best. Ask FCD White. The only team in Bracket A that beat anybody was Fever and in Bracket B the top three all had two wins.

According to just curious, fcd black and dalglish are some of the best teams, fcd white tied them and fever. Bracket b had mutiny, so that was a give me. Have you ever heard, when the going gets tough the tough get going. Looks like Keegan and dalglish should have held on longer. Everyone had those teams crowned way too early, so when it didn't work, just say congratulations the better teams won.

Scores do not always tell the story of the game.  A team can dominate and lose 1-0, that's just how it goes. If you don't put the ball in the net you leave the door open for an upset.  US beat Ghana despite being outclassed for 90 minutes in the WC.

All the games I seen were competitive. FCD White absorbed a lot of pressure from Fever & FCD Black, but credit to them for holding on and scoring when needed.

Liverpool Dalglish do play some longball but sometimes your personnel determine your style.

Not sure who said Fever had no chance but they are very big and physical.  Not the same team they had last season in PPL. Had difficulty finishing chances.  Goalie is excellent.  I see a lot of 0-0 games in their future.

Post by Wired 04/08/14, 02:27 pm

Whaaaaat you are exactly right! I do think that most games are won by teams who maintain possession, but you are right. I have said that exact thing before. The older the girls get the more important it is to play with possession. The skill level is picking up, so it's harder to play a ball 20yds in front of a forward and think a good defender isn't going to get there first. I see girls make intelligent drops and parents scream "we are going the other way, or go up the field" I watched it this weekend from a Liverpool parent. The girls are coached and know more than the parents. Why did the teams get in that did, ball possession and defense.

I hear the same things from parents and it makes me chuckle. They cheer loudest when a defender clears the ball. They love the big kick lol.

You are correct about the older girls. The kickball lessons they are receiving now will be of no benefit in 2-3 years.

Post by "Hi Five" 04/08/14, 06:49 pm

The goal was to get into D3 Highlands congratulations to the teams that did. A D3 team is an average team that can sometimes beat a middle D2 team and sometimes can't beat a plano team. I wouldn't brag about a D3 team being a possession team it's not always that impressive unless your a parent of that team.

Post by voiceofreason 04/08/14, 07:10 pm

Possession is possession, difference between D3 to D2 to D1 is speed of play. There are some D3 teams that possess nicely but if you go watch a solid d2 or especially a D1 team you sense the difference. There are gaps everywhere among the divisions, top three D1 teams are miles apart from number 4 all the way through mid D2 and so on. QT is always ugly because the pressure sets in and win at all costa becomes the mantra, hats off to the teams that played soccer and advanced, will benefit them greatly in their futures.

Post by Wired 04/08/14, 07:16 pm

If you think all the d1 teams are out in front of the rest, you've lost your mind. The top 3 d1 teams where ahead of the rest, but now it's more like the top 1 and that's coming from being there. No the majority of the teams don't play possession soccer, that's my point, but they usually beat the ones that play long ball. It's 12 & 13 yr old girls, the most important thing is coaching. You think because your kid is in d1 that's she's in a league of her own, she's not! I've seen girls from d1 to plano that can play! Athletes always come to the top. Do you think that all the top teams that lost players this year found other d1 players to replace them with, no way. I'd like to see the bottom half of the teams in d1 play some of the teams in d2 and d3, I'd bet they would be surprised. When they lost the d1 teams would cry about the bracket they where in.
