First off, I'm not sure if I'm mad at Glotz, or the Texans, or the parent drama including myself....maybe its all the above! I think what Glotz did this weekend was wrong and obvious...I'm not sure why he would do it but it happened and I told him I wasn't happy. Everyone that wasnt at the game doesn't know. Don't act like its just 9 yr old soccer and our kids don't care because they do care. They knew it was a big game, they talked about it and I'm sure heard the parents talk about it. You should of seen the girls when they scored the go ahead goal...they were going crazy...it wasn't just the normal reaction...they knew what they were accomplishing. And Glotzbach didn't seem to want to give them every chance at that victory. I'm still not sure why?
Now to the part that really made it hit home. I told my dd tonight that Coach Glotzbach was quiting and guess what her response was? Is it because we didn't beat the Rowdies? Now do you think she knew it was a big game? Then she started crying and tried to hide the fact she was crying. If anyone knows my dd she doesn't cry...she is the "Stone Cold Goalie" no emotion! Then she blamed herself and said if I just hadn't let that last goal in! At this point I'm getting upset and pissed at the same time. Why is my dd blaming herself for a coach leaving? She obviously loves this coach and he was always great with them. This is testament to how good of a coach he was...the girls love him!! I tried to tell her it was just a coaching change and it always happens. She cried herself to sleep tonight. She doesn't want to lose her coach or her friends! But, I am having a hard time justifying leaving her with the Texans if this is how its run! But, I don't want to add to my dd's emotions by taking her away from her friends also! I'm at a crossroads with no good outcome for my dd.
The new plan is for the both Higgabothams(Rowdies) and Bennett(ex Glotz) to practice together as one unit with 2 coaches. I assume this fall season the teams will stay seperate for game purposes. Then I assume they will make a super team and a "b" team. I also assume when this happens there will be upset parents that will take their dd's elsewhere and then the 2nd team will most likely implode again and this whole drama scene will start all over again. So basically if we stay we will be kicking the can down the road and putting off the inevitable! Of course if your dd makes the top team everything will be fine until playing time issues arise. I'm just not sure if I want to go thru the drama again in a couple of months right before signing contract time and have to scramble to find a team at the last moment because my dd didn't make the "A" team and most girls that made the "b" teams decided to go find greener pastures. This is the senario I'm afraid of happening!
What do I do? I have a good team that wants my dd. But, my dd and our family also have very good friends that we will miss dearly! This whole situation sucks!

Please say that you don't believe this BS that Jason didn't coach to win that game!!! The only thing that sucks about this game is the parents probably didn't truly congratulate their daughters with complete excitement about playing such a great game as a TEAM...they were pissed about some fabricated idea. I have a perfect example of why Jason did NOT coach to lose..but instead he wanted to allow ALL the girls to feel somewhat part of the BIG game. And, instead of saying 'Thank You' to Jason for doing a great job developing the girls and helping them enjoy the game...it was the mob looking for blood. I congratulate Jason for telling all the parents that attacked him "goodbye!" Truly unfortunate for the girls that the parents had to be immature ones.
I will let you answer your own question with this one fact. With 8 minutes to go Glotz was down by one and had his top 2 scorers on the bench and they never were subed in the game and he put his 3rd leading scorer back at defender. Now your question was did I really think he wasn't trying to win? Maybe you are CHARLIE SHEEN and your view of winning is differant than mine, but if your trying to win you put your best players/scorers in the game! What is your definition of winning?
I don't have a kid at this age, or even near this age. I couldn't pick this coach out of a lineup of 2 people with one of them being Fred Berry. I don't know any parents that have kids at this age, or do I know any kids that play select soccer at this age. I have no kid that even plays for this club. I am completely neutral on this situation, but I have been reading this garbage.
Winning at all costs at this age is ridiculous. All of the 02 parents will feel this same way in 4-5 years, except for the obvious nut cases that will still be lurking about. Most of them will be long gone though.
I read post after post of everyone on this board and hear nothing but, "I'm looking for development over winning," "As long as my DD is happy….," "Europe develops players and North Texas loses in the long term because it is all about winning," etc. etc. Everyone says the right thing, but the parents prove otherwise. Anytime someone loses a close game, especially with a questionable call involved, or there is an upset between 8 and 9 year old teams, or a coach makes a move that is questionable, the boards blow up with speculation, conjecture and complete insanity.
Why is winning so important at this age? You all claim that development is the most important thing. It sounds to me like this coach is looking to develop a group of girls and not go balls out to win. By playing all the girls, this will make the team better in the long run. Apparently he has been coaching for a while and realizes this. Yet the parents are all concerned with the game in front of them and winning it at all costs. Play the good players and bench the lesser players! We've got to win this little girl soccer game!
I'm going to assume your coach doesn't have this philosophy, even though the parents do. Maybe it is because this is the highest level of competition that the parents have ever been involved in and they can't see into the future and realize that it becomes much more competitive at an older age and that this early age isn't life or death.
I suggest you seek counsel from those that have been there before and now reside in the 98 forums and older. I myself used to get worked up over the coach playing a girl out of position, or sitting a good player most of the game, or just doing anything that didn't coincide with my noobie thoughts on soccer and how to run a team and win games. As it turns out, I was wrong, the coach was right, and I couldn't tell you one score to any of those games way back then.
I'm glad to see this coach walked. Good for him. This speaks to the parents being a bunch of lunatics. No way this is the first time that the parental group has gotten out of control. There has to be a history of this from this group for a respected coach to abandon this team. The parents should be ashamed, but it looks as some of them are taking to the boards to prove their own sorriness.
Congratulations on filling up 9 pages of dialogue in a couple of days that you will one day regret.
I wish they would hold a tourny for teams that just worry about development, maybe we would finally win a trophy! Can you guys point me in the right direction to find one? All the tourny's our team enters requires you to actually play the game and WIN in order to get that Trophy that our girls have never won. I guess its to much of me to wish my dd could get one so she could have that big smile on her face like Webbs girls always do! All the other top teams seem to try and win in those tourny's. I guess its just to much to ask a coach to give your girls every chance to win in a tourny also...after all we are playing 2 games a weekend this fall. Plenty of games to develop players. Thank goodness Lake Highlands doesnt look at teams results from tournys and league games to seed teams for qualifying tourny the season before going select. I know most coaches don't care about winning games the year before select either. Oh wait....you mean all that matters!!!So most coaches do care about winning, tourny directors require winning to advance, so God forbid us parents for wanting our little girls to experiance a little tourny success...we are crazy and radical.
Good luck to all girls this weekend. I agree this thread has gone on to long! I won't be adding anything else to it.

1v1 trolling for players.............that's funny.........I'm picturing him handing out little dixie cups labeled FC Kool-aid while taking frequent breaks to sip from the Sonic cup.......But in reality he didn't even have the Sonic cup.......disappointing

If trophies are what you and your daughter are seeking, you can always enter a lower level tournament or go back to rec.
Using Kat's teams as a barometer is probably not a good idea. Kat is a friend of ours and has trained (never coached) all of our dd's and will tell you that historically half of her kittens are no where to be found by U14.
Time is a great teacher. For your daughters sake find a friend or relative who has been through 5-6 years of select soccer to help you understand what lies ahead and how best to approach it.

Re: Dallas Texans 02 Glotz
What Mick is saying. Why did Coach A never sub his bench in. During a important time in the game. Coach B subs in bench. Coach A wanted to win. That's why the subs never came in. Ask any parent on higgs team. His bench saw the field maybe 10min tops. Coach B on the other hand Sub often, but at the wrong time in Double Overtime. True we shouldn't bring up old games. Katt has a grate team. But Coach B never sub his bench in when they played their last two finals vs Katt. You know.... whats done is done. The past is the past. Until we move on this topic will always have its pros and cons. I wish all the girls the best of luck this weekend. Hopefully the weather will stay like this, im loving it.mcik17 wrote:giggedy wrote:mcik17 wrote:Staywide wrote:goalgetter wrote:Mega Man02 wrote:agreed!!happygilmore wrote:All I have to say is Your Right.goalgetter wrote:Hell yeah it sucks!

Also, if there is this big Texan conspiracy, which I doubt, why would you stay with the program and bail on the coach? I also really doubt anyone over at DTA really cares too much about any particular academy group.
Everyone realizes that Rowdies hadn't technically even been a Texan team - no money used to go to anyone but DM. If they really cared about Academy control and money, DM would have never been involved.

The Grassy Goal Conspiracy Theory
First off, I do not believe that the Texans, as an organization, would make a concerted effort to protect the top team. Any of us that have been around a while have seen the top-team-dynamics -- no player is safe, pressure is welcome, survival of the fittest, many are welcome to come out and try and get on the top team. There are a number of times in history where there are top teams very close to each other and even an occasional pass by the #2 team to the #1 slot, although rare because the Texans top team always seems to manage recruiting new blood from other clubs as those critical U14, U15, U16 years arrive. And some girls get dumped -- no one is safe -- and the team tends to live at #1. Like it or not, its top level club soccer.
From the vivid and specific examples cited by Glotz parents, who are not a dumb bunch, Glotz clearly pulled back the reins in an attempt to lose the game. When one or two parents cry foul, it might be the disenchanted few. But when a dozen scream "what the heck", there is no doubt that there was in fact shenanigans in play by Coach Glotz.
I also know that coaches want to win games. The record shows that Coach Glotz has worked hard to improve his team to this point. But then he mucked with the outcome of this one game? Why?
Well, who is in a position to "lose" if Texans 02 / ex-Rowdies lose this game? Would the Texans organization lose? No, I don't think so -- sure there would be a bit more pressure but the Texans actually seem to like pressure on the top team. They like the "no one is safe" urgency. Winning one over Glotz, then losing one to Glotz, just serves as a train-harder, try-harder incentive. I don't believe that the team would melt down based on one interclub result. And if more people are involved (ie. the organization), then more people talk and think about an idea and logic and reason usually prevails -- from my experiences, the two guys at the top of the Texans, whether you like them or not, are as politically astute as it gets.
So who would have a motive? When something is obvious, it is almost always true. Higg just inherited the team from May. He has not coached at the young levels before (comments all over the forums wondering how he will do because of this) -- and it is different -- better in some ways (they listen in earnest, wide-eyed) and worse in others (they are not professionals just yet and lose focus a lot). He clearly wants to build confidence and rapport with his new set of hyper-competitive hyper-expectations parents. Losing to a perceived "lesser" Texans 02 Glotz team would not be great for Higg, more than anyone else in this deal. And in truth, moments like this usually involve one guy making a bad call, not a bigger group talking it over.
Higg talks to Glotz. Glotz may or may not know if its the official word or Higg's alone, but either way, what's he to do? -- Higg has been his boss for several years now and is entrenched with the Texans for the long term. Glotz hopes the girls come out and play decent but lose. The feisty bunch disappoint him, grabbing a lead instead. Glotz's hand is forced and he goes to suicidal substitution mode. The rest is forums history.
That's my Grassy Goal Conspiracy theory.

How about this title. "The Little Engine That Couldn't".
If the conspiracy is true, Glotz has been bringing this team along, just chugging away and getting better. Then right when the engine gets to the top of the hill and is getting ready to get over the hump, and take the rest of the train with him....... the engineer cuts the power to the train.
I have heard that clubs do this garbage. Still baffles me that Glotz "couldn't" coach to try and beat the Rowdies for fear of the higher ups. If in fact that is what happened.
I will say that I caught the end of the 1/4 final game against South when Glotz was up 1 to 0. He did make some large # subs in that game as well and South almost scored a few times after the substitution. Maybe the other theory is correct and he was just trying to get his bench some crucial experience in a BIG game.
Either way, it is tough to be a coach and I feel for him and his players.
I feel for whatever coach gets these nutcase parents next.

Re: Dallas Texans 02 Glotz
I have older dd that used to play for him before all coaching changes-still shocked he is able to coach this age.
Younger kids seem to need some compassion, some personality, some fun to keep it fun for them. The real shock is he made it through a weekend with 9 year olds and didnt drop the f bomb. I can see where some little ones might not be able to play successfully for him with his personality. I hope I'm wrong. I do wish them luck bc through this all the Rowdie/Higgin parents seem to have maintained some class ( they very well could have been upset at game against Kat-did he sub correctly did he play strongest lineup did bench get enough time etc etc etc) -very few people on forum writing . They very well could have thrown a fit about game against Kat-but I didnt see a word.

Agree! But, as expected the full squad was at training last night...at least the girls were able to say hello/goodbye to Coach Jason. He came to practice last night to see the girls. Class act!!!

Ten pages of posts (most of which are by parents on the team) with "hard facts" pointing to the "biggest fraud in the history of academy soccer" and the parents didn't move their kids away from these atrocities? What a load of garbage all of this has been.
I hope the parents involved feel good about the unwarranted damage they've done to the reputation of a great person and coach. Well played...morons.

Listen this was not about a coach that lost a game. Its about the system he was put into. He was told not to win by his boss. The man was a dam good coach. He taught the girls alot about the game of soccer. The parents never had a issue with him. Glotz gave up alot for this team. He was put in a very stressful situation. Maybe the reason his team never played May/Higgs team, was they knew this would be the out come. It's was a time bomb waiting to exploed. The problem I have is he walk away from the team. Why not tell the parents " you don't like the way I coach. ok go to another team." But he didn't do that he left. Players don't make a team a Coach makes a team. And by him doing that, does that show the DD's hay when it gets tough just quit and walk away.Gunners wrote:Staywide wrote:GuessMe wrote:Amen to that. They want to play the parents like fools keep em coming out and make em feel that the team is just as important. When all they really want is to develop 3 to 5 girls to add to Higgs team. That is really not a bad plan, but when the parents are being told one thing and then the club does the total opposite it let's you know that the only thing being looked out for is the Club and not the DD's that put in all the hard work. I'm not bitter about the Higg team I will be the first to say that my DD is not on that level YET!! Just tired of everybody worrying about what the Higg team is doing?? Who cares what they are doing.....the only concern here should be Glotz team. This team is a really good team and has closed the gap significantly. No need to mix up the teams. This team is a team that don't depend on just 2 or 3 studs, every DD on the team brings something special to the team from top to bottom. And the chemistry that they have built up is impressive. I would hate to see all this hard work go to waste over some clubs greed....this team has the potential to be the top team in 02's. Just don't get why some people are so ready to jump ship... not saying you are Mcik I know you are very committed to your dd and the team. If the parents are really sincere about keeping this team in tact then in my little opinion I think the best thing going foward would be to take the team as a whole to another club. This would take the team out from under the shadows of the Higg team and really allow the team to compete to their max potential. Their is something to be said about buiding it, develop it, and earning it. This team is right there on the doorstep pounding in the door. I don't know I'm just saying........K Medina and camp looking pretty good at Sting!!!!mcik17 wrote:Let me make this whole situation real for everyone. I have never hid who I am or what team I'm affliated and I wasn't even really sure I wanted to post anything about this situation and just add to the drama, but let me tell you I learned tonight that this is real to a little 10 year old girl and not just some forum drama!
NEWSFLASH parents----YOU are the CUSTOMERS , they (Ryan, Jason, Tim, Hassien) work for you, you pay them!!!!! If you are not happy keep your solid team together and find a club that will treat you right. No one want to see a good TExans team leave -but if you all are this fed up-ban together and leave or threathen to until you get what you want. [/quote]

Ah, I get it now. There is a true lack of understanding for the game amongst these 'conspiracy theory' parents. Someone led the charge at your 'parent meeting' lunch following the game...and I guess the rest just don't know any better and it made sense to them. Hence the decision at the lunch was to oust Jason as the coach.
Our definition of winning is the same. Our PERSPECTIVE on Jason's coaching decisions is completely different. To answer your question, you start your agrument at the 62 minute into the match (2 minutes into the 2nd overtime)...the winning goal was actually deeper into the match, but irrelevant. Before we continue with the last 8 minutes of the match, how was the first goal scored? Think about the string of passes that occured to tie the game at 1-1...was it just your so called 'starters' or 'best players' or 'top scorer'...NOPE. No one was complaining that the 'bench' players were on the field at that time... Ok, fast forward to the 62nd minute. Anyone that was there knows the wind played a significant role in this match. In the 2nd overtime period the Rowdies had the wind...EVERYONE knew all the girls were drained. Any coach would tell you at this point, for Glotz it was about holding on for 10 minutes to see if they could pull it out in PKs. The unfortunate goal for Glotz girls goes in. IMMEDIATELY, Jason subs in a forward for a weaker player at that position...where does she fall on your stat sheets for goal scorers? Did he do that to lose? No, he knew that this player/sub was a stronger option at forward than the player on the field...and he made the change! Regarding your other point, putting his '3rd leading scored' (as you call her) in an outside defender position was actually a smart move and a display of him trying to win the match. The Rowdies have speed on the outside (where they were most effective all match), and maybe just maybe he was trying to counter it with this sub...see it all the time at old ages. Na, had to be that he was trying to lose (not win).
Do you think Coach Tim knows the full details about these parent's accusations against their former coach...

Like I Previously stated if you have know idea what's going on shut-up!!soccer4ever wrote:Texdad wrote:Anybody that defends club politics is dumber than a box of rocks. You guys that are ripping on the Glotz parents either work for the Texans, or your daughters are bench players and you have a huge chip on your shoulder.
Anyone that believes a club would tell a coach to throw a game is an IDIOT and has no business being in Club Soccer. Better yet, to get on a forum and accuse a Director ("the boss") of telling his employee that he can't win the game is absolutely ridiculous. Shame on you people.
Go back to the rec leagues where everyone is a winner! The parents on this team have posted and said enough, those of us that have older DD's can see...the parents are obviously a problem.
