If this is based on games you have seen, then you must not watch very many games.

I just wanted to get people talking however I do think Kennington team is number 1.

Kennington is a great team, no doubt. But they recently lost to both Dalglish and Rowdies so not sure it's fair to say they are better than these two.

Also, a few teams on this list (two to be exact) haven't played in any of the top recent outdoor tournaments (i.e. PT Fall Classic, Guts & Glory, etc) so it's hard to rank them with these top 10 teams until they do. They very well may be great 04 teams... but the only way to know is to play the games on the pitch against one another. If these two teams (Mutiny and Sting) have played against any of these top 10 teams I stand corrected in advance! Smile

I used those teams simply because they compete in DIAL. Both are very strong teams. Sting Goodman has picked up many new players.
The Aztecs play in that league as well. Also UIL doesn't have teams represented. However I now know that tournaments carry more weight in the poll.

I agree. In my opinion, teams that have played more games have proven themselves more. That's what I like about DT South and Fever. While they might have lost a few more games than the top 4 teams, they have also played more tournaments and outdoor games than some of the other top teams.

I'm not going to argue with anyone that ranks Solar 4th because we might belong there. I don't really know. But in Solar's defense, we have played over 30 outdoor games within the last year and only lost 3 times. (Two times to Dalglish and last weekend to Rowdies 3 to 2). Solar has beaten every top 04 team within the last year except for Dalglish.
With the exception of Kat Webb's super team, not many teams at this age can play at the same level every weekend. I do think that any of the top 5 or 6 teams can beat each other depending on how they are playing that weekend.
Dalglish hasn't lost all year, so they deserve the #1 ranking. Any team can claim that they are better than Dalglish, but until you actually beat them, and prove that you can win over a long period of time, you don't deserve the #1 spot.
Some of the new teams might deserve a top 10 spot at some point, but you have to play the top teams and prove it on the field first.

For the record, when Solar plays up in the 03 division, they use one 03 player to play goalie and that's it. (Just like Dalglish does). One of our players just left the team and she was our top goalie, so we need help there when we play 9v9.

This is bizarre to say the least. There is no way that you can be watching any 04 games. Kennington 1st? Dalglish 4th? er, Lady Aztecs?

Your are right. He did play 3 in that one tournament but in the SDL 03 division, he is only using the one goalie.

Fall 04 Rankings - Week 3 - Page 2 Empty Re: Fall 04 Rankings - Week 3

Post by KSD 29/09/11, 02:21 pm

Here's my take... very tough to do this at this stage with so many good match-ups to come.

  1. LP Dalglish
  2. DTN Rosales
  3. DT Rowdies
  4. Solar Kennington
  5. Odyssey (Have one of the strongest 04 players I’ve seen in this age group. Big games coming up with Fever and DTS. They beat DTS in PT Fall Classic tourney to claim 3rd place. They have a new coach so will be interesting to see if this team stays together after this season and how many follow their old coach.)
  6. LP Beardsley (Performing well in EAL 03 Division. Big game against the new LP 03 Keegan team this Sunday.)
  7. Fever Red (Very strong but I hear they may have lost some players over the last few months. Not sure if this is true? Dropped from PT Fall Classic due to coaching conflict so Beardsley gets benefit of doubt and 6th place.)
  8. Lady Aztecs (Tied Beardsley in PT Fall Classic so could easily be #6 or 7. Beat DTS in PT Tourney to advance to finals.)
  9. DT South (Will move up fast if they beat Odyssey or Fever Red in PT.)
  10. TBG (Will move up fast if they keep winning in SDL but went 1-2 in PT Fall Classic.)

Teams to watch: LP Keegan (Tough SDL matchups against D1 talent to start season), Solar Kennington White (Well coached and some very nice talent), LP Barnes (No comments as my 05 DD plays on this team so it’s hard to be unbiased. Smile )

I think TX Spirit Red is being overlooked on the basis of this years record. Don't let that fool you because they have played Kennington, Bennett and Rosales.

This is a good team and belongs near or at the top of the second tier. Time will tell as they will begin to play the other teams this week.

Yeah, I was torn on them but had to use the data available so far this season. Like I said... there are many games yet to play so I am sure this will look very different in 3 weeks.

BTW, we noticed a few TX Spirit Red players played in back to back games this last Sunday... first against LP Barnes and then against DTN Manchester. That had to be hard on those players. Kudos to them for battling hard though.

If she does that will be a BIG blow to Odyssey. She scores a large percentage of their goals.

Ok I will say all of the talk about Daglish using an 03 keeper is a little much. The 04 keeper we had may have been the best 04 out there and was stolen by cheerleading. We had an amazing 03 keeper that broke her arm. No idea what happened after that but the girls were all sad to see her not come back. The current keeper is nowhere near the other 2 and definitely not a leg up as is suggested. She is a project for sure and hopefully the liverpool goalie coaches are working with her and more than just before the game which is a waste. Kenn's 03 keeper is amazing. I think if he had used her in goal the last time we played we would have lost. A great field player but nothing we couldn't isolated and handle but as a keeper, I am not sure we can score on her.

Sounds like Kennington has a great 03 keeper. With that teams falling apart where will she land?

Daglish's team is great. There is no doubt about it. They are one of those teams that doesn't have a lot of shots on goals because their defense/midfield is so strong. They will only continue to get better.

Solar Kenn is a more balanced team than Daglish. They have 1 standout player but are very solid after that. Daglish is way deeper as far as talent goes. However there are several girls that are well below the players from kenn. Playing up for those girls has not been the best thing for them. Huge keeper advantadge to Kenn and the depending on how LW approaches the game will probably determine the outcome. If he plays it like DT Bennet and plays for the win then Daglish. He plays for development and balances the playtime then the more balanced team will win which is kenn.

I watched her during the tournament and she was the reason they beat Texans south 03 second team. They were firing rockets at her and she was stopping them all. Not sure Daglish girls have the leg to get anything by her. Well with the rumors of a LW03 team, she should go there and be a field player and then keeper for Daglish cheers That and a change or two and Daglish is ready to make a push for the top 5 in the 03

The 04 goalie might be back on the pitch as soon as football is over, but I'm not sure she wants to play goalie anymore....she said its boring! We will see were she ends up, but she is a very fenicky girl and I'm still not sure she is ready for soccer year around. However, if anyone needs a guest player let me know...she is a pretty good field player and could play goalie if your in a pinch for a keeper for one game....as long as it doesn't clash with cheer/football game time!

a very good field player. Remember her piling on the points for beardsley. Consider us pinched anytime, I am sure the girls would be happy to see her.

I find it somewhat amusing that everyone assumes Tim Bennett had a preconceived plan to play to win against Solar. Sure he wanted to as well as I would think Kennington wanted to.

Remember that this team only has a roster of 10, with no goalie and 3 '05 players. It wasn't necessarily the subs that didn't play the whole game. It was the '05 girls who came directly from our '05 game right before. This essentially gives him 2 subs to work with per half because if you play goalie in one half you play the entire second half.

I can see how it can be percieved as such, but to say it was any different than the norm would be stretching it.

sorry. not my stretch and really didn't care. It was floated that he played his starters most of the game, but to be fair Kenn probably played his best player most of the game too. So to my point, the last time Daglish and Kenn played clearly LW wanted to win that. The subs were managed more carefully and not so much "okay it's time to make subs" With the focus being only on balancing playtime.

I think many of the '03 teams would love to have her guest play!!

Solar Kennington and Dalglish will be a good rematch but we have to play DTN first.

I think everyone on hear makes good points. Kennington might have be more balanced than anyone, Dalglish might be deeper than anyone and DT Rowdies are probably more dangerous offensively than anyone.

We will get a good taste for DTN and see where they fit in the mix because I am sure they will somehow.

One thing I will say about these 4 teams is that they are full of energetic, aggressive girls (with skill of course). To me, that is what sets them apart from others.
