That has nothing to do with NTSSA not sharing the applied teams list on GotSoccer. That's usually a conscious decision by the TD. So either the TD isn't aware, or doesn't want to share the list for some reason. For all we know, there could be 20+ teams already applied for NTX Showdown as well, but why not share the list?
No difference in signing up for TuT or Puma Cup vs. Seeding Showdown. Most teams don't sign up for TuT until after they've got their team registered with NTSSA and GotSoccer profile updated.
The 6 accepted teams at this point means nothing. 90%+ of the teams on the applied list will end up in the tournament. TuT looks to be on track with previous years, which ended up with ~40 U11 teams entered.
The biggest surprise to me is only 1 team signed up for Puma Cup at this point. Usually Puma Cup will attract a pretty good number of teams from the West side of the Metroplex.
If I'm looking at signing up my team for a tournament where I will get good handle on where my team stands heading into QT, I can look at the King TuT list and see the current FBR # 3, 4, 7, 11, 13, 15, 17, 18, 19, 22, 23, 25, 30, & 32 teams already applied, or tournament with 1 team, or a tournament that has ??? signed up. So personally, I think it's a bad move for the Showdown to not be making their applied teams list public at this point.
I'd be shocked if more than 1 or 2 of the teams currently signed up for King TuT, are planning to sign up for the seeding showdown as well, and set their teams up to play 3-4 games on 3-4 straight weekends in July/August.

Jules Rimet wrote:Even 3 weekends in a row without time to make team adjustments or have 4+ additional training sessions, a weekend of scrimmages, etc. in before QT seems strange regarding Tut timing. Things go poorly in tut you could only just hope for the best come QT when making changes. Just my point of view.
I won't disagree with you there. When my '01 went through QT, TuT was 2 weekends before QT, and Puma Cup was the weekend before QT. We played in TuT, and having that weekend off between TuT and QT was nice.
If memory serves me correct, in the 3 years since then, TuT and Puma Cup have been the same weekend, and have been the weekend directly before the start of QT.
So I would think that there would be teams attracted to playing in the Showdown specifically to have the extra week of rest before the QT, but TuT certainly still seems to be attracting a large number of quality teams. It will be interesting to see if they still get close to the 40 or so U11 girls teams that they've had the past couple of years, or if the Showdown poaches a significant number.
Going beyond this year, it will also be interesting to see if there is a noticeable perceived difference in the QT seeding for teams that play in Showdown vs TuT/Puma Cup.*
*(Not that it really matters, and as I've argued many times on this forum, choosing a tournament based on trying to manipulate your team's QT seed is a waste of valuable time and energy).

The registration process on that site was less than stellar. If you look closely there are few teams that had troubles getting their registration right. They will get it all straightened out before the teams are accepted.

Correct, but one of the reason many of the age groups are mixed together in the applied list when it initially comes out is because GotSoccer hasn't flipped them yet. Some teams that register immediately already show in the appropriate age group. Looks like they flipped it last night, so everyone should be showing up correctly now.

Technically not correct. 04 teams that show up as U-11 before August 1st were "manually aged-up" by their coach or manager. They will find themselves in U-12 once August 1st rolls around and GotSoccer automatically ages them up a year. This is a pain every year as anxious managers try to "fix" their GotSoccer accounts.thatwasweird wrote:10sDad wrote:As of July 1, the '04s are now U-11. Now Select, and no longer academy.

Of course, practically speaking they are U-11 after signing on July 1 but according to USYS and NTX SSA they are still U-10 during the month of July.

Yes - '04s are technically U10 until August first. When LHGCL QT has its first week of qualifying in July, it will label the group U10. When the second weekend of the QT is in August, they label the same group (or what is still left in the QT) as U11.
