U90C Spring Kickoff tournament assessment

Ok, just thought the board needs a new topic. Only a week away until the U90C Spring Kickoff tournament. Of course it's a bigger deal than just another pre-spring season warmup tourney. So chime in on what you have seen from the teams so far. Who's looking good, what teams are hot at this point? The kickoff tournament basically has the core NTX girls team all playing in it. Should be really fun and a good showcase for where the NTX U9 girls teams are headed. I figure in the SuoerCopa NTX will have a very strong representation.

My money on Texas Thunder 07s over Magenta in Pk's....

It will be interesting to see what the rosters will look like come tourney time. Hear there have been a lot of changes to the 06 landscapes. Lots of new faces in new places. Should be interesting.
And speaking of TT 07's, why are there teams playing up in this tourney?
If the link that Shonuff posted is correct, I count at least 6 academy teams playing up an age group. If this tourney is the qualifier for SuperCopa, 1) why are teams playing up, and 2). why are they allowed to?

Here's my guess at the SCQ/Platinum division:

Bellatores
Kicks North
Kicks Magenta
DTS
FCD Shepard
Solar System (Black,Pulp,Abbott, Red)
TX Spirit

That would be 10, with two, five team divisions...Think anyone else will venture into the mix?

Do your research, Magenta was signed up for the original tourney in Nov. And they were not in the Copa Qualifier division.

Selecao will be the auto bid from NTX, no need to be in the qualifier division.

The 07 teams that are playing up are teams that are playing up in UAL this spring.  I imagine some of these teams haven't played 9v9 and are likely using it for prep for the spring season. Can't speak for TT, but I know this is true of LFC RASE and LFS.

Why not play SuperCopa division and decline the spot if you win? Or better yet, aren't there plenty of players to field both teams in the Copa?

Ok, that makes sense for the 07's. But what about for Moreno playing 05's? Or Sting and Pulp playing 04's?

No clue, but they were not signed up for it originally. That's public knowledge.

Webb and RASE played 06s (9v9)in the fall...LFS is in spring...No idea why Thunder is there, they play PSA not UAL and, just guessing, but might end up in 07s.

As I recall, this was the original SuperCopa team list from the Challenge Cup (Qualifier) in November:

FWFC, Bellatorres, Kicks North, DTS, Solar Black

They have all paid their fees, so they will be in it.  As for the newcomers, I'd guess FCD Shepard, Solar Pulp, SRSA, Solar Abbott, Sting Black & possibly Tx Spirit.  If that is correct, that's a pretty good representation of the top NTX teams.

Off memory, that's all but maybe 1 or 2 of the teams playing in the 06 UAL Plat division this spring. Does anyone have a link to that list? I know Nicole has posted it but can't find it.

Any word on Schedules release? Seems really late!

Tournament director is over here reading the shinanigans... thats why the schedules arent out yet. I believe its in their rules they will be walking around and assessing play on the field along with SIDELINE behavior and "may" extend additional invites based on what they see.

Schedules still not out days before the tourney. SoCal teams not impressed with tourney setup thus far. This thing is off to a less than impressive start.

My assessment... U90 screwed the pooch on the seedings in 06 Gold.

Top 3 teams all in one pool Magenta, Solar Abbott and RASE.  Abbott and Magenta should be split imho, but I know what that is worth.

Pool A  26, 29, LFS 07(lost to STing East Gray @#30) and FCD WTX

Pool B 2,11, '07 RASE'(Tied and beat Solar 'White' @ 14), 43

I love that there are no games on Sunday, in the QT division, unless you advance. I need to be in Sunday School.
